Great impressive win, but Norton had a fragile chin, froze when tagged by big punches & was a slow starter...

So to etrapolate the performance & say this Foreman would also destroy totally different fighters early, such as one who starts faster than George, & has a concrete jaw (much better than young Foreman's), is quite daft...

    Cooney damn near killed Norton.

He should have pulled up, imo.

Cooney hit him (and landed cleanly) while he was down to keep him down.

In Kinshasa I think Jimmy Young had a better chance than Ali to beat Foreman and even this is due to the heat. Ali had to rely on a cheat in addition to the heat.
I think the fighters with best chance to beat Foreman under room temperature and without cheating are people either like McCall , who could both take Foreman's punches and overwhelm him in return , or maybe Vitali whom was relatively tough (for such a big guy) also big Foreman will be in an unfamiliar territory against someone whom could hit him back or maybe even keep him at bay.
I wonder how many lunatics here think Foreman would have gotten rid quickly (or at all) from someone like Dominick Guinn .
Another interesting match could be Corrie Sanders whom was not one of the toughest but might have blitzed George like he did with Wladimir , and while George was tougher than Wladimir for sure , I doubt that he hit harder and would have had more problems landing on Sanders than Wladimir actually did . Foreman used to stir away from people his own size or bigger and Sanders was actually better , or at least didn't have any significant disadvantages compared to Ron Lyle , and remember Lyle had George in big trouble.
Just to demonstrate how underrated the 2000s are.

George said in his autobiography that he was literally thinking about killing Norton in the ring so people would respect him. :nut:lol:

Norton actually spoke rather well. Norton did do some TV commentary alongside Donny Dunphy on occasion. Unlike most heavyweight fighters of the 70s, Norton, Ali and Quarry didn't murder the english language over the air.

:lol::lol: I love it when MR BILL quotes someone and then goes on about something else. He's my favourite, I must confess.

    Pissed yet, BILL?

Again, cut and dry, Norton's psych and chin were glassy.... Norton was placed on ***** street by "Glancing" shots from both Foreman and Shavers. Nevertheless, the results were two KO losses for Norton's record...

Now, in '81, Cooney landed some of the scariest pair of hooks and a right to Norton's mug while Kenny was sagging to the floor in round 1 at MSG... That was a KO!

Foreman was on Norton like one of those pet lions and tigers that he kept back then...that's exactly what Foreman reminded me of..a big lion against Norton. He made Mr. Physique look like the hopeless prey animal of a lion.
