Ray felt compelled to go for the KO because his angered wife threatened to leave him if he didn't.

There'd be no conflict of interest in the rematch though, Duran was far too busy stuffing his face (all of which was Ray's fault) to get close enough to insult her again. This would allow a focused Ray to box circles around Duran for the full 12...unless of course Duran forgot to have a poo before the fight again, in which case it'd probably be another TKO. 'Sigh.

Hold up! Hold the **** up! I would never ever dispute this. MAB is my hero...I just don't overstate his abilities or place among history. Just sayin'.

MAB has better combinations than Greb though. Definitely.

    Hi Swarmer. :hi:

The Brawl In Montreal doesn't even work as a name anymore, it should be called The Mind Control Of Montreal, seeing as how Duran managed to, using the power of his mind only, command Leonard into "fighting Duran's fight", which was suspiciously similar to how Leonard had fought in many pre-Montreal fights but that doesn't matter, and therefore completely invalidate the win forever, it doesn't count because Leonard "fought Duran's fight".

Never mind the fact that Duran was older, smaller, lighter and slower, and had to firefight a taller, rangier, faster, fresher opponent, forget the fact that Leonard had elite skills and fought like an absolute tiger for all 15 rounds to keep his zero intact, and don't even mention the fact that Duran was all over Leonard like a cheap shellsuit every time that Ray tried to get some breathing room, none of this matters a **** because it was The Mind Control of Montreal, ie a totally meaningless and fake victory achieved through supernatural subliminal skulduggery!!

Leonard in Montreal was the Leonard in the rematch. Way too much is made of Leonard fighting Durans fight when it was actually Durans underrated speed and head movement that took Sugar Ray out of his game plan and forced him to fight on the inside.

And there is the differance between the two, does any one truely believe that Duran would have been so over the moon with a cheap win like that or would he have wanted to settle the matter over the 12 rounds.

Duran would have had the shits (no pun) that the other guy quit, taking the 'win' away from him.

Nah, Duran would have been like, "man up, *****, you're just doing this so I won't get full credit and ESB can say you won the event". And you know what? He'd be right.

I will never give a boxer **** or call him a fraud/ over rated etc... if he trys and loses esp' to a top rated guy, but if they don't try or pull a move like Leonard did for Duran 2 or what Floyd is doing now then I will not be a fan of theirs.

Hearns is a great champ for facing prime Leonard, Hagler etc... poor bloke was around when two of the best boxers in their divisions were around.

BTW what is all this won the event crap?, is it just a cop out?

How could I possibly see it any other way? He was getting clowned, he was losing, he quit. He couldn't stand to see Leonard's arm raised after 15 rounds of fightings and therefore he bailed. That's how I view proceedings. Leonard would have his balls chopped off by the likes of you if he pulled that ****. Let's be real, Gesta.

I agree, for the most part. It was close until Leonard started clowning. Duran did quit to save some macho.

Duran is a funny guy, he wants to beat up the other man to prove that he is the better man, Leonard wants to 'win' even if it means getting the other guy past prime or some thing of that sort than so be it.

Some guys take risks that **** up their standing, they are to much of a soilder for their own good, would SSM be thought of the same if he never took on high risk/ low reward guys like Forest/ Winky? he could of cherry picked his way to a better standing.
