I have high hopes for Jones. At only 23 the skies the limit. But let's get real here folks, Reem is a monster!!
Reem would ko Jones, it's simple look at the Reem's striking then look at jone's there to different animals. Jones would shoot in for a takedown and would get caught by one of the Reem's knees. Plus the strength advantage is to great. If jones takes him to the ground the reem is also very slick off his back so the wrestling advantage get's thrown out the window. In closing jone's is talented but not talented enough to take the reem.
Machida helped evolve the game. He was a sophisticated fighter who found a bad style matchup with Shogun. This is how a sport evolves, Machida changed the game slightly whether he continues on to be successful or not. Then you move on to Jones and once you make that jump theres no turning back. Any version of Hughes will not beat the GSP of today.
Overeem did. And he looked unhealthy and bony there. You could see very clearly from Overeem's build that he struggled to make 205 and forced his body to get there. He would always blow up at least 20lbs above his contest weight.
I mean you probably have to say Reem becasue of the size difference, but that's all based on assumptions. You have to assume that Jones isn't as strong but how much weaker is he? He's never been even close to being even with anyone in the clinch/TD. I assume Reem is Stronger because he's bigger but Jones seems to be much stronger than he looks so I don't know HOW strong he is. He is certainly a lot faster and got more unorthadox strikes. He switches stance. His front kicks are the fastest I have ever seen if you consider the ground they cover to hit the target. So I say, I dunno, Overeem based on size and size alone.
Do you really need to ask? This content is protected Overeem's hands are twice as big as Jones legs lol
Impressive physique. But all the same things were said about Brock. I know reem is vastly more experienced and better than Brock. But haveing a better Physique than your opponant don't really mean ****. Ask Todd Duffee after the Russow fight.
It hasn't got a lot to do with physiques. Just the fact that Overeem's striking is on a higher level and the fact that he is a lot stronger, which negates Jones wrestling. He is also the same height, so out goes the relative luxury of controlling range so easily as is the case when fighting far smaller fighters. Overeem would win by K.O quickly.
I wouldn't rush to place a large bet on Jones for this fight, but I've never seen anything from Overeem to suggest that he is too much for Jones. I don't think Overeem has ever defeated anyone on Jones' level. Jones has better wrestling technique than Overeem, and would probably be giving away 20 lbs at the most. I would like to see Jones' stand-up/chin tested before saying he would be the favorite against a striker Overeem's caliber and size.
