I don't think he'll lose horribly at all. He's not going to be taking a devastating beating because it'll over far too fast. It's going to be like Salita whereby he loses relatively unscathed, his problem being that he couldn't deal with the speed and power and suffered a very quick loss.
It's going to be interesting to see what the promotional angle they are opting for is going to be. I imagine it's going to be the "Is Khan over looking him and already thinking about Bradley" route.
Khan's not a devestating attacking machine, so I think McCloskey's skilful enough to go the full 12. He may even make it competitive. But, you could be right. Khan could overwhelm him and finish him early if McCloskey's not careful.
You know, the punch I've been most worried about for McCloskey is the 1-2. He's so open for that punch, and unfortunately for him, Amir's got one of the fastest 1-2's out there. I hope McCloskey can stand up to that.
To someone of this level he is. Look at what he did to Maidana in round one. If he puts together something like that against Mccloskey its over. My hatred of this fight stems from it just being a waste. I really think they should of payed Peterson his asking price. He destroys Mccloskey inside a few rounds, people say "Mccloskey is dreadful, it was a mismatch from the start", he wipes out Peterson in the same manner and people sit up and take note and helps much more on his route to his super fight.

And coupled with that you've not really given us a proper breakdown of why you think except 'McCloskey isnt on his level etc etc'. I just want to ask your opinion on what consitutes a 'world class fight / fighter'? When McCloskey is rated by various sanctioning bodies and in the Rings independant rankings in the top 10 - does that mean No. 8 vs No. 5 isnt a world class fight? So only the top 2/3 in any given division are 'world class'? So by that logic Khan would never have had a world level fight to this point because Kotelnik, Paulie and Maidana were in the mid 10s in top 10s they are not good wins? As for saying McCloskey has never fought a world class fighter - that maybe true, but remember at some point in every single ATGs career they had never fought a world class fighter - you have to start somewhere no?

For me their ranking means nothing, it's about how they perform and against who. Amir Khan could be looked at in 2008/2009 and from his speed alone it could easily be said that given the right opportunity he could feasibly be world champion because his speed is beyond question of world class level. There is nothing in Mccloskey's game that is world class. He does everything to a slightly higher than average level, but then at times for whatever reasons he shows glaring defensive lapses. I can't see him beating anyone who I would classify as world level at 140- Bradley/Alexander/Maidana/Ortiz/Urango. I especially cannot see him doing it against Khan, not because I consider Khan to be best, but because someone with Khan's handspeed will most easily take advantage of Mccloskey's issues. Where in my post did I say he was any good?
When you said that if Khan destroys Peterson everyone will be super excited for a Bradley fight - but if he destroys McCloskey it wont matter a **** - hence implying Peterson is some sort or good scalp Khans speed is amazing, thats true - but it alone cannot make a world class fighter - there are other factors that would mean the Khan of that time was NOT a world class fighter but became one by adding strings to his bow - McCloskey has a less obvious skill set but id argue that like someone like DeGale, he only looks good when his opponent is trying to box him and not survive rounds Hey, we could keep going round in circles till the fight itself but i can see you wont change your mind so theres no real point. Just have to wait and see whats what eh?
I would have preferred Peterson too. But despite him being a better fighter than McCloskey, he was asking for too much. But I get what you're saying. A wipe-out over Peterson would garner respect, as it can be compared to Bradley's perfomance against him. But the same can't be said for McCloskey. He'll just be immediately dismissed as a 'Euro bum' should Khan take him out easily.
I know I know... I still say he'll make the 12 rounds. Well thats if he doesn't keep his hands down by his side for most of the fight.... Basically i'm just looking for some well timed shots that might surprise and stun Khan.
Yeah it's a good scalp, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything about how good he is. Like you said, the commentators, the magazines, have all for whatever reasons given him publicity and some hype. Khan in beating him solidly would be seen by some as emphasising Khan's good qualities, rather than how a bout with Mccloskey which will be portrayed which is that of a mismatch.
