Failed challenger Solis cheated everyone if he knew about injury Chris Mannix>INSIDE BOXING http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/chris_mannix/03/21/vitali.klitschko/ ...If it's true that Solis covered up a pre-existing injury -- a Cologne Arena spokesman told ***********.com that Solis' manager, Jose Perez, "knew about the previous problem, but it was thought it would go away if there was enough training and the muscle stabilized the knee" -- then Solis should be ashamed. A crowd of 20,000 packed the arena for the fight and television networks around the world (including Epix, the fledgling premium channel that broadcasted the fight in the U.S.) ponied up millions for the right to cover it. Solis cheated all of them. He put himself in a fight he knew (or should have known) that he couldn't finish. The reason is obvious: Solis earned a reported $1.8 million, a career-best payday for the longtime Cuban amateur. Praise? He doesn't deserve it. He should be fined by the WBC and sued by the networks that bought the fraudulent performance. Don't expect to see Solis in a meaningful fight anytime soon, either. He needs surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, a procedure that will likely sideline him until early next year. And when he gets back, don't count on Klitschko offering him another shot. A source close to Klitschko told SI.com that he is furious about reports that Solis knew about his injury and has no intention of giving him a rematch. If Solis wants another crack at the title, he will have to earn it. He will have to beat a few contenders -- real ones, not Monte Barrett or Ray Austin -- and prove he is a legitimate challenger and not the disgrace he would seem to be. Thoughts?
If thats true Id be pissed. It was a very freak and sudden injury. I dont doubt it maybe he was afraid if he backed out he would lose the opportunity to Haye or Adamek Plus his promoter Oner is an ******* and probably wouldnt let him back out No wonder he looked so desperate in the 1st round being more aggressive than usual maybe all that German mountain running hurt him he finally trained for once and his body wasnt used to training
How exactly would he be able to move around the ring, and to the ring BEFORE the knockdown if this was the case?
Well if he had a pre existing knee ligament injury, yes it would improve and muscles can stabilize the joint but it will be highly susceptible to reinjury under stress. I know because I had one from hoops and didn't get surgery and I can't play anymore because it has gone out like two more times but I can do most other things (even running) where its not gonna be torqued by a hard pivot, etc. If you're a pro boxer and you have a knee ligament injury and you don't have surgery then that's pretty silly because it will re aggravate eventually in the heat of battle
The guy sure was moving well and bouncing on the balls of his feet with alot of ease for having an injury. The PUNCH hurt him, and in falling from the PUNCH, he tore his knee. When he got up, BOTH legs were mush from the equlibruim being screwed up by the PUNCH.
if he did i would be pissed because i spent over 230 euro for 3 tickets, my dads birthday gift. we sat there and watched like 5 or 6 undercard fights, most of which sucked ass. then we had to watch roxette, which is something i could have done without. oh and yes, the punch was what hurt solis in the first place.
Not just moving well and bouncing on the balls of his feet with ease but bending over backwards to stretch. If anyone makes a disability claim at work that their knees are bad and they're filmed bouncing on their feet with ease CLAIM DENIED!
The punch didn't hurt him, that is the one punch angry fathers used with their kids a "cocotazo" that is the one that you need, VK won no matter the circunstances, he fu$k up his knee is his fault, he should had had kept his weight down, I hope he learns from this and doesn't balloon to 400lbs, he should take a page out of Matt Wilanders.
