Valuev is very average fighter and without his huge size he would be nothing.

Byrd won Vitali very " sort of way " i would say

as we all know the more weight divisions the more bank in the pocket for the greedy alphabet organizations, it was for that reason alone that they created this division.

I also believe that you can jump 10lbs from 175 and be close to 190lbs and be a major player at that weight, problem is a lot of guys just dont have that kind of confidence, it's all those years of bs wivestales about 'stay away from big guys' same as 'dont have sex before a fight'. let's get ****ing serious.

I mean someone like Pacal at 175 is physically capable of outboxing arreola without even bulking up, that is if he really wanted to. Guys like Dawson and Hopkins are 10 times more in talent than someone like Arreola, or peter who got his ass handed to him by an obese brain damaged former middleweight.

This is a ******ed statement, period.

Louis was IN NO WAY bigger than Arreola!! Arreola is TALLER, HEAVIER and even if he boiled down to 5% body fat he'd still be over 215!!

People when bringing up old timey fighters tend to over look one MAJOR ISSUE!!

People talk about how Joe Louis wasnt that big, ACTUALLY he was bigger than nearly everyone he faced! In his era he was considered a monster! Look up the stats for his fights

Ali has a couple of inches on most fighters he fought, which is why he could dance around throwing out a jab.

George Foreman made a name for himself by being bigger ad more powerful than fighters of his era.

Even Tyson outweighed a number of the guys he fought, since he was so muscled.
His biggest win ever was against a former Light heavyweight champ!

aside from the other ridiculous garbage you posted this one took the biscuit all the way to chinatown and then even further.

i think you'd do a great service to everyone involved if you never make another post on this forum, or any other boxing forum for that matter.

anyways finally putting the ignore button to a good use.

The guy is 6'4 what bloody weight do you think a powerful 6'4 guy like him should weigh??? Moron

Arreola turned pro when he was 22, he weighed 236. Some 15 pounds lighter than his last fight 27 pounds than his career high.

To say that he could easily fight below anything like 220 is insane considering his naturl build and height

And yet, when asked to produce the name of such fighters today, you start mentioning ATGs like Joe Louis and Joe Frazier.

In other words, once the 6'4' skilled, in shape fighters like Lewis and the Klits who have dominated the HW scene for the past 12 years disappear, AND if another one of those type of fighters does not show up, we can get back to having 210 HW champs.

Is this what you've been on here 'debating'?

    :huh

Great thread globetrotter, my thoughts exactly. I think the Klits rule the division with an iron fist partially due to their size, but mostly because they are very talented and the division is one of the weakest ever. A former supermiddleweight like Byrd hung in there with Vitali and produced an upset. Adamek and Haye are really cruiserweights and light heavyweights and they are among the best heavyweights today. If they are successful why not the other smaller heavyweights of the past? If Byrd, who was down on the scorecards, was really making Vitali look bad, how would a Gene Tunney or Ali do? Surely much better than Byrd!

The point is there were no "small heavyweights of the past!"

Joe Louis outweighed most of his opponents by 20 pounds! He was big in his era!

    As was Ali.

They were competing in eras where they were considered big heavyweights. People like the Klitschkos didnt exist in thise eras.

When the Klitschkos move on you'll probably have their positions taken by Robert Helenius or perhaps even Deontay Wilder.

skill is what matters. the klits are not as skillful as joe louis, frazier or any atg of the past. im not the most skilled fighter (im working on it) but i soundly control guys who are less skillful than me, regardless of weight. weight means little, come on guys how can you think the way you do when guys like manny pac is smashing up bigger dudes, or sergio martinez, or the great henry armstrong.

And the reason for weight divisions is....

People here get bent out of shape when a guy fight someone from a division below them which could be as little as 5-6 pounds.

In the heavyweights,yo're talking about guys outweighing other guys by 30 pounds and being 3-4 inches shorter.

Thats like Manny Pacquiao fighting Andre Ward.

Klitschko himself is ATG, if not yet then he's on his way, so the only logical conclusion as far as match ups go is to put him head to head with other smaller ATG fighters.

you can play dumb all you want but at least keep with the flow of the thread.

and i already told you many times before i see no one who can beat klitschko today, big or small, but only because there's no one around who can beat it doesnt make my point any less true.

my last post to you, because you're either trolling at this point or very slow, or maybe even both.

i said that only because a fighter doesnt meet the standard of a modern heavyweight in terms of weight or height, it shouldnt automatically eliminate him or reduce his chances, if anything, an in shape 210 pounder would have as much chance to compete as the guy weighing 245+ pounds.

You automatically made it into everyone vs Klits and Lewis.

if someone like tyson was born into a different era and was 20 years old today, neither wladimir nor lewis would be champions, for obvious reasons.
