Serious question. Will weight difference on the night make such a difference at Crusierweight? i.e. Say Danny weigh's 195lbs at the scales, re-hydrating to say 200lbs (5lbs), whereas let's say Huck or Cunningham who consistently tip the scales anywhere between 195 - 200lbs, but may come in at around 205lbs by hydration time. Is 5lbs fundamentally going to make that much of a difference? I'm no expert and please correct if I'm wrong, but I would have thought Cruiserweights wouldn't rehydrate through the roof overnight as they are already big boys? My experience seeing the lighter guys like say a Billy Dib who may make the scales at 126lbs, but enter the ring at about 135lbs (approx. 4kgs) I would think it's to Danny's advantage being a fraction lighter to maintain speed etc? Giving away weight certainly hasn't hindered Pacquiao and he claims to not like making the full Welter limit of 147lbs and has stated his optimum weight he feels comfortable is about the 144lbs-145lbs mark? If Danny faced say Cunningham, this would be the most advantageous route in my opinion as IBF rules state that no fighter is to be greater than 10lbs heavier than the night before's weigh-in. They do a morning of the fight weigh-in and under no circumstance is either fighter to exceed 10lbs in weight gain. Automatic losing of the title if your the champ, or automatically disqualified from winning if your the challenger if so. They stripped Orlando Salido last year when he fought Yuriorkis Gamboa at the morning weigh-in as he came in some 12lbs heavier.
I never said I was right. Your the one bragging about how Stiffy agreed with you! I criticised saying we shouldn't have to apologise and stated my reasons as such.
Whatever mate - 1st Crownie half gone - still getting paid - and frankly not giving a **** about trivia like that.
None at all. The bottom line with Green is that he's a B grade fighter. Nothing at all wrong with that, but he'll never hang with the best, no matter what weight he fights at.
What? Frankly not giving a **** but continuing to write about it? C'mon CHB your better than that. You had your opinion, I had mine and there totally opposite, big deal that's life. Let's not get all big girls blouse on a Friday hey mate! :good
Some interesting points there. Green may have weighed in at 195 for Flores. But because he was comfortably under the 200 lb limit, the chances were he was ALREADY hydrated. I say that because before that fight the heaviest he'd ever weighed in at was 192. Where I'm heading here is that Green simply may not be able to be at his best at 200 lbs - not everyone's a PacMac who can just grow indefinitely - and Green might weigh-in at 195, and then turn up at 195 because that's his best weight. A genuine cruiser like Cunningham might weigh-in a whisker under 200 and rehydrate much heavier - so the difference in weight on the night might very well be 10 pounds plus.
Fair points. As I said, I haven't had a lot of exposure to seeing how the big boys rehydrate and how much of an effect it has/doesn't have. I personally couldn't see the bigger guy's rehydrating as much as the lower weight classes, or should I say, I would have thought their rehydrating would have less of an effect. Again, it's only an assumption and I could be way off? For the little guy's, rehydration is imperative and in some cases, fight defining but I would interested to see if Danny could actually give away 10-12lbs (195lbs vs. say 205-207lbs fight night weights) and remain right in the fight. As I said, be interesting if Danny were to go at Cunningham as taking an average of his last three fights, Cunningham would weigh-in at about 195.5lbs, (195lbs / 193lbs / 198.5lbs) hence under IBF rules, the next morning, he can only be a max. 205.5lbs. Hence lies the question, does a 10.5lbs swing make too bigger an amount of difference for Danny to overcome?
Maybe Greeny will step up for a cruiserweight unification fight and fight the WBF champ whoever the **** that is. The dumb mugs that follow him will buy it and i'm sure Hyder would talk it up to whoever would listen. It would be typical Greeny spin. I could see them selling it.
Thats about the only way a unification bout is going to happen m8, these ****s must be living in the land of fairys, Danny doesnt hold a WBC, WBA nor IBF title so fck knows what unification they are talking about however the WBF does fit the picture as its one of the lowly titles in the ABC soup. Danny faces ANY of the current WBA, WBC, IBF title holders in the CW division and he will get a rude wake up call. Its no coincidence he won a legit LHW title then retired, he stuggled against guys like Mundine and Beyer at SMW, he has no chance against the top brass at CW, he knows it his camp knows it and most of Australia knows it ala Mundine.
All smoke and mirrors so he can soon anounce his tune up fight with the kiwi and people wont bag him for taking the fight atsch actually very smart move to milk the public again.:hey
