Is this a CHECK HOOK??? Your input required!

If Wlad's wasn't a check hook... then neither was Mayweather's. It's that simple. You have already been shown what a textbook check hook is... which isn't what either of them did. However.. in reality both of them were variations of a check hook. Check your opponent as they come in aggressive.... hit them with your left hook... move and make them hit thin air. Simple as that.

You act like it's a new and complicated move or something. It isn't uncommon... you just don't know it when you see it. You expect people to go running into turnbuckles everywhere.

 

i know what a check hook is. I thought peter was delivering the hook. but, now that i took a better look, wlad threw one.

Neither Wlad nor Mayweather threw a textbook check hook. Howver, both of them achieved the same result by leaping away, rather than pivoting on their planted left hook, while swinging their right foot off to the side. Your left foot is NOT supposed to move during a textbook check hook. It is supposed to remain planted the entire time.

So, how you going to sit there and say that Mayweather showed a perfect example of a textbook check hook... when he clearly didn't? I have never once said that Wlad's was textbook. I said that it is in fact a check hook. It's the same result. Just as Mayweather's was not textbook...but he got the same result. It's really simple, yet you are trying to make it more complicated than it is. Even the people agreeing with you... aren't even agreeing with you when they are bringing evidence to the table that shows Mayweather didn't even throw a textbook check hook.

You could have saved a lot of time by being reasonable and listening to what I was saying from the start.

 

Can our resident ESB check hook experts find us any other example than Mayweather on Hatton? Surely, if it is such a well documented technique that it has it's own Wikipedia entry, more than one has been thrown in the history of boxing?
