david barnes?!the guy who was gifted the decision against poor jimmy vincent?!that was on a par with the nelson/fenech holyfield/lewis scoring!he was being touted as a future star, but i don't think his career ever caught fire after that night.(great fight though)

bristol's danny butler.performed well in losing at short notice to darren barker over a year ago, then seemingly disappeared.a shame if he's quit,as i reckon he could've carved a decent career for himself...

Hatton Promotions let him go for taking the Barker fight i read. Sad if that's true.

didn't know butler was signed to hatton?and if he was, they could've vetoed any plans he had to fight off their promotional deal anyway, surely?

Well they didn't like that he took the bout as a replacement and let him go. It was in BN i think.

i thought butler's stock rose in defeat.he showed the heart of a lion that night and, still a young man, could and should have learnt from the experience.perhaps hatton was too addled with charlie at the time to see a good thing...

    Yeah probably was mate

I just read through google and boxrec has the story. Gareth Williams claims Butler's manager asked for contract to be tore up but they were telling different story. Hatton Promotions advised against taking short notice fight with Barker.

Strange that the lads gone nowhere...shame as well seemed hard working kid.
