Not read the whole thread cus I've seen Froch's twitter message which implies something is in the pipeline.

But this is a hard PPV sell.

A fighter who hasn't been on Sky in years fighting in Canada against a 'non elite name' in the middle of the night.

    It's a tricky one.

Do Sky make a loss on this in the hope of future revenue? It's a gamble.

Why does it have to be ppv? Would the money hennessey make from primetime ppv be much more than what they would get from non ppv sky? Anyone know how many ppv's primetime sold for frochs last couple of fights?

Ok cheers. Although id of thought for the sake of greater exposure and using the sky hype machine it would be a good investment

Froch's problem is all about PR.

    1. Hennessy couldn't organise a **** up in a brewery.

    2. Froch comes across as cold and a bit strange in interviews even though I think he's 1000% genuine and the most decent of men.

    3. In recent times the most financially successful British fighters are those that the TV loved. All these had great personalities: Bruno, Hatton, Eubank, Benn etc

Froch hasn't made it easy for Sky to get behind him. They don't believe enough casual fans will buy into Froch's personality and be interested in what he's doing. Look at Haye in comparison.......he talked his way into a world title fight and Sky were quite happy to take him on when their rival Setanta hit the rocks.

What amazes me the most though is how Sky are willing to sell Brtish domestic fights on PPV. It just shows the loyalty Sky have to Fwank. Warren has obviously made them a good few quid over the years and they are willing to stand by him by giving him PPV for what are really local fights. Fwank needs a DeGale or Cleverly to step up to world level soon or Sky might just get tired of trying to dress up British title fights as being worth £15.

I agree with this. Is it worth being stubborn about having to be on PPV even when the revenue generated by it is peanuts.

Froch needs to connect with the general British public. He needs to do the circuit of chat shows and game shows that Ricky and Haye have done.

Froch shows his frustration about his lack of exposure but he isn't out there working his name. Pro boxing to the general public is entertainment and that means outside the ring as well as inside it.

Is Froch just too much of an introvert?

i dont think froch lacks personality although he seems to come off better in radio interviews than tv.

May 21 would have been an obvious date (same as Cleverly, Degale etc). But HBO have gone with Pascal/Hopkins and Showtime (Carl's principle payers) have decided not to go against this it would seem. Froch - Johnson is just not a ppv fight ... simple as. It might mix with a big uk card, but doesn't stand on its own merits. As for slagging sky, maybe the finger should be pointed at ITV, who would seem to be ruled by people who are ante-boxing. Mick signed with them in good faith, was putting on decent shows and getting good audiences we are told. Then they pull the plug. Senseless.

Probably June 4th now id say. I think its more to do with the fact that Showtime dont wanna go up against HBO who have a good card on May 21st.

    Exactly.

Once more showing Hennesseys close mindedness and ineptitude to see the bigger picture.
