How does Danny overshadow other aussie boxers spotlight, he doesn't tell the journalist/newspapers what to write...one wonders why respected journalists would rather write about MicK Gatto than our dedicated aussie boxing warriors/technicians...let's see how they and Fox report on Michael & Daniel Geale? Maybe they should do their job better hey old man :deal We have Michael Katsidis, Daniel Geale, Vic Drachinyan and Alex Leapai ready with locked in fights .. Danny Green needs no mention until he secures his next fight :bbb
they are one in the same francis no matter how you describe them , i agree most of dannys supporters arent full of boxing knowledge, though they are loyal as hell and pay to see him fight. thats a powerful marketing tool hes secured which i just dont think anybody else in aussie boxing has done. he got a fair bit of publicity before and after the beyer fights stiffy also, moreso than say daniel geale or katsidis would now. im not saying its right its just the way that it is, if he fought huck or hernandez or huck, or even guilermo jones id be over the moon
I agree with your post here mate. :good Unfortunately boxing is a very minor sport in Australia which allows the Mundine's and Greens to do their smoke and mirrors act without the general public realising that they are being fooled. It's a shame that fighters like Geale and Katsidis don't get a fair shake but that is the way it is.
Why is it a shame Francis? Katsidis won't fight here and by all reports, can't enter back into the country anyway to very dubious activities. He didn't come back for his brother's funeral or family tradegy in Toowoomba floods so how the **** are the Australian public or media suppossed to push his profile if he's never here? (There goes the elephant in the room no one ever mentions when talking about Kats) Daniel Geale is about to get his shot to enter the next category of fighter in Australia but up until this point, rightly or wrongly, know one ****ing knows him because they haven't pushed or promoted his profile. Geale headlined the Grange PPV in October and by al reports it did 3,000 PPV's, a financial dud. He headlined the Grange May PPV in Wollongong and it did the same, flopped. I took a mate to the October PPV card and he actually stated that "he's boring to watch". That's not to say both fighters aren't outstanding fighters, I'm actually a big fan of both but their lack of profile cannot be attributed or blame place onto Green and Mundine. Either camp's people have to accept they haven't done the job properly in profiling their fighter, end of. They can accept the plaudits that they have positioned the fighters for the biggest of opportunities, but blaming other fighters is just being ignorant to their own shortcomings. I don't agree with Mandy and Danny in the way they have conducted themselves in the past with certain aspects of their media-whoring, but it's a fact, they know how to work with the media, be it with infamous statements or having a PR machine behind you pushing and making opportunities work for them, hence their financial success with some of their promotions. Everyone within the industry who whinges about Mandy and Geale fundamentally to a large degree are jealous as they haven't a ****ing clue on how to promote a fighter in the first place. The media want stories/angles and interest to make reports for the viewers/readers and rightly or wrongly, Mandy and Green are the only ones providing it.
Dawsosj, as you know I have been a critic of Danny's over time for certain aspects of his career, however I for one, IF this is legit and a fight against one the Cruiserweight champions is made, be it here or over there would applaud Danny for doing it. Do I think it will happen? mmmm, I have my doubts.
99% of Rugby League or AFL supporters don't know all the inner workings and behind the scenes spin that makes their players and game what it is so I assume they are all idiots then too are they?

i think u r being harsh on geales team. yes there is always more they could do. but unless u do something extraordinary in boxing these days as an ozzy boxer, there is zero public interest in it. the interest in green is only an anti mundine interest and the boxing aspect is of little importance to the general public. green was very clever to gain the public support that was sick of hearing mundines nonsense in the press and they just wanted somebody to come along and shut the bigmouth ***** up. he made it green and ozzies vs mundine and his small idiotic band of supporters and the general aboriginal followers. green ko'ing roy jones has helped green keep the curious public on his side. now that he has the public interest he is doing a fantastic job to use it to maximum benefit. but it is EXTREMELY hard to get the ball rolling for a boxer in this country atm.

Funny the posters on ESB hangin Shite on the Dumb sh#t public for backing the "charismatic"or "sellable" fighter, my guess is you would Fail big time if you were ever to attempt to be in business yourselves. By the way that whole thing has been done already music wise by Nirvana and that didn't get Kurt too far....PS I love to watch Gealey, Alex, Kats or Zapp fight who wouldn't.
