    Maciel has some good defense. Might be frustrating Pirog I guess?

    Maciel is lackin' a bit in the offense dept. though.

    Pirog throws lots of short pitty-pat three punch combos coming forward. Maciel just stays in his turtle shell and lets Pirog work. Maciel ducking a lot, and causing Pirog to lunge over him at times. Body shots now by Pirog. Maciel is in the corner. Maciel drops his guard and nods respectfully to Pirog as Pirog backs off to let him out for some reason. Maybe these guys are TOO sportsmanlike. This is very civilized, like a fencing match. Pirog jabs and lobs an overhand right, looking a bit impatient and not really working to set anything up. Maciel is landing well to the body, uppercuts and left hooks. Good stuff. Pirog nods respectfully to Maciel. These guys respect each other, that's for sure. Nice right uppercut to the body by Maciel, and then a left hook downstairs as well. Pirog not doing much. Maciel lets his hands fly, fast punches mostly to the body.

    10-9 Maciel per clean body punches.

    (previous round I had 10-10, btw)

    The English commentator is exaggerating Pirog's lack of incentive, I think. Maciel seems to have good fundamentals and a cagey style. Say what you want about Latin American domestic level but he's definitely frustrating Pirog and has tagged him with some solid shots. Won a round or two so far IMO, a few close ones. Pirog is definitely in control and he's boxing smart; he's not realistically going to blow everyone out of the water like he did Jacobs.

    Maciel slips some jabs. Pirog throws a hook to the body, but isn't really stepping forward and committing. Pirog thrusts his jab and digs a right to the body. Maciel leaps forward and sticks out a hard jab, backing Pirog up. They trade feints in the middle of the ring, sizing each other up. Maciel loads up a 1-2 but Pirog ducks it at the last instant. Quick reflexes. Maciel is darting in and out with his knees bent, landing the very tip of his jabs. Pirog hooks to the body. Maciel loads up a big counter right cross to the chin. MACIEL COMES ON!! Big punches high and low!! Pirog RUNS!!!!!!! Pirog clinches. Maciel chases with his jab. Pirog clinches again. Pirog with a light rabbit punch. Pirog keeps holding. Maciel hooks and lands a hard overhand right, clubbing across the back of Pirog's neck. Another clubbing right hand. Maciel lands a low blow while in hot pursuit and Benji Estevez breaks the action to warn him, doing Pirog a big favor. Pirog keeps looking to hold. Pirog now lands a low blow, and bows in apology.

    Pirog looked all kinds of bad that round.. I think he was hurt.. why else did he clinch 3 times when he didn't need too... not good for Pirog fans..
