Dunno man, I find this all horribly, horribly puerile. The guy was a stone-cold ATG who achieved so much and is an absolute joy to watch in action. I've never seen anyone come out with any rubbish like "he could beat anyone up to cruiserweight", seems to be like this type of bollocks has just been conjured up out of nothing in order to wage a hilarious campaign against it. Hopefully you guys will get bored with it soon as well so the forum can be free of wacky anti-Duran stuff.

I think the same guys that love SRL, love Floyd ,who is a great boxer, who will take the easyest path to glory. They look at the two styles of fighters Duran/Leonard Pacman/Floyd and cannot fathom how the slick style is not supperior.

 

Speculative, but there could be truth to it. Being stun by a big punch can affect your style and gameplan for a long time, even if you are still on your feet and look okay to an outsider. I've experienced it myself and heard several boxers talking about similar experiences, i.e. Mercer vs Wlad when he was knocked down in the first round but stopped five rounds later, on his feet.

 

The evidence does not support this being applied to SRL-Duran 1. Watch the fight, and if you see any point where SRL looks stunned, hurt, or even suffering the after-effects of a punch at any point after round 2, please let me know so I can locate it, because I've watched the fight many, many times, and I cannot see this after-effect manifested at all at any point.

All I can see is Ray Leonard who looks for all the world like he has a very clear mind and very strong legs, fighting like an absolute ****ing tiger. :good

 

Duranimal's love for...well...Duran, is absolutely insane. I've never seen anything quite like it in my life.

And contrary to what Popkins says, this is only one of many outrageous statements made in regards to SSJ Duran.

 

Duran is the greatest of all time.

 

If only all of the other comments were made in jest, El. If only.

 

Find some and quote them on here then? Would be interesting to see if the Duran comments are really any worse than the comments that I could dig up about any fighter on here. I look forward to seeing the posts you find to quote. Time for some evidence, methinks, instead of the same old exhausted playground theatrics.
