Well the guy in my avi is my favorite active fighter his best days are long gone but until he officially retires, hes the one i respect the most.

As far as stil elite well JMM, the guy is first ballot hall of famer and his been one fo the elites for quite a while now.

Id say Rios is my favorite young guy... Theres so many im also looking forward to seeing how far Frankie Gomez- Jose Benavides do... Also Abner Mares. Pretty much all of them, even Victor Ortiz

PS i Mexican Americans included ^^. oh i forgot about Rafa Marquez

The Tijuana Tornado baby!! In spite of losses, set backs, controversy, and scandal, he's still in the game and still looking to fight the best.

honestly, nobody. i mean i admire boxers who get in the ring but lets go down the checklist.

JMM, just wants a huge last payday. doesn't really want to win against Pacquiao.

Canelo, exposed. nothing to like about a guy who doesn't make weight and wins titles because they were handed to him

Montiel, good fighter...don't necessarily 'admire' him.

Ortiz...ahh, the guy who loves to quit. Admirable qualities.

    Arreola..admire that he admits he's a fat ****.

Margarito...dispicable human being inside and outside the ring

anyone else that I should know of? sorry if I didn't mention anyone else..

Not intended to be an anti mexi thread.

Aw crap how could we! :patsch I forgot about Rafa too. I would love for him to come back with a functioning right hand and derail the Juanma train. Though I like Juanma and would love to see a Gamboa fight, seeing an old gutsy veteran take the fight to a young lion and triumph before fading out of the game would be something,

Feel the same way, Mexico just doesn't have the next Morales, Marquez or Barrera at present. I like Morales and Marquez but they're past their prime.

You don't admire exciting and masterful future HOF fighter Marquez because, for whatever reason, you think he will just take a payday and not care about being competitive against Pacquiao? Any boxing fan should be able to admire his technical discipline and perseverance.

Canelo is a young fighter. Should have made weight, but I sure admire what he's shown us at 20. Talent and drive.

Montiel is a top rated fighter who stepped up like a man and gave no excuses when lost. Professionalism and hard-earned rank.

Rios is a good mention. I dislike his personality but he brings it in the ring, I admire his toughness.

I don't know about you but I think those fighters seem pretty worthy of admiration to some extent.

I wonder if someone will make a Puerto Rican thread to rival this one. :p

Favorite would probably be Miguel Vazquez at the moment. One, he has terrific skills, two nobody talks about him. I like how under the radar he still is ATM. Then, JMM the great, Rios is cool exciting young dude who comes to fight. I'll stop there I could go on for awhile.

The funny thing is I actually share your disdain for those last three...

Maybe not so much disdain when it comes to Ortiz, as doubt that he's got what it takes to keep performing at the top level when the going get tough. Margarito I never bought into. Arreola is actually Mexican-American, and represents an all-time low in "great American hopes" at HW. Anyway, my low opinion of him is a matter of record.

I couldn't possibly disagree more with you lumping that three in with the first three, though.

Marquez, Alvarez & Montiel are all class acts and EXCELLENT fighters. Top shelf. Alvarez, not quite there yet but on his way. Marquez and Montiel have been among the best in the world for years.

Those three (again, moreso Marquez and Montiel but Alvarez is en route) represent all the qualities that boxers should aspire to...qualities that aren't present in Ortiz (heart), Margarito (craft), and Arreola (dedication).

Whats with you Doby? You said your not a ******* but your starting to sound like one,,, No love for Mexican fighters?

Well he deserves a 3rd fight with Pac , and also deserves a big final payday. I think he won both fights with Pac.. Although i dot think he will beat him now, especially if its over 140, but you can best believe Marquez thinks he can win, He wants this fight to prove a point too not just for money.

When was Alvarez exposed? The kid is pretty good and also exiting.. He already is a top 5 jM and he is most definitely gonna get even better... Its not his fault , what do you want him to turn a title shot down? Blame ODLH and Suliaman for the Hatton fight and basically handing him the title.. He does what a fighter is suppose to do and fight who his promoters/Managers tell him too.

Montiel good resume and nothing to be ashamed of.. Just fought an outstanding elite fighter and probably a future atg.

Im hoping Ortiz beats Berto he has talent and can punch.. But i am turned off by his safety approach now.. I mean he goes from one extreme to another... Fights Maidanas fight and quits, when if he just fought smart you can tell the ko win was coming for Ortiz... He boxes and fights cautiously against average punching Peterson and the old nate Cambell ,.. Then he fights recklessly with huge punching Maidana :patsch

Ok i was pissed at Arreola for coming in fat against Klitschko and Adamek.. A fight he could have won(Adamek) had he come in shape.. I gave up on him ever getting it together, but now im giving him one more chance since hiring Ronnie Shields. We will see in his next fight? .. But Arreola iMO is one of if not the most exiting heavyweight, Punches real hard, Has heart, good chin and throws combinations very good for a heavyweight.. Still one of the most dangerous heavyweights even when hes fat... Can you imagine if Shields lights a fire under his ass and he gets in shape?

As for margarito i think people are making more out of this handwraps (wthing .. Ive been watching him since early in his career (when he was 17) and hes always been a good puncher and broke dudes down.. I am sure that he wasnt packing dynamite plaster since then., He has some big wins and should get props for being one of the top elite welters for awhile... Also showed alot of balls in the punishment he took from Pac, and he never kept trying..Unlike some of Pacs other recent opponetns, and how do you know what kind of person he is outside the ring? Seems like a good guy to me on the 24 hbo special.
