Well, from this thread we can see there were numerous bad world title challengers and most were much worse as the one featured by the TS.

I took the time to make a list of the worst I've seen here thus far.

Pete Rademacher 0-0 vs Floyd Patterson '57 (Loss KO6) knocked Patty down.
John Kpalongo 1-4 vs Carlos Zarate '79 (Loss KO3) had faked his record
Emilio Hernandez 2-4 vs Carlos Zarate '78 (Loss KO4) damn Carlos.
Howard Clarke 26-10-3 vs fermando Vargas '99 (Loss TKO4) :nut
David Vedder 12-8-3 vs Virgil Hill '90 (Loss UD12) just damn!
Steve Frank 14-2-1 vs Bernard Hopkins '96 (Loss TKO1) 24 seconds!!!!
Richard Frazier 18-3-1 vs Roy Jones jr. '99 (Loss TKO2) embarrasing.
Damon Reed 22-1 vs Herbie Hide '98 (Loss TKO1) fight took under a minute.
Terry Daniels 28-4-1 vs Joe Frazier '72 (Loss TKO4) way to get braindamage.
Ron Stander 23-1-1 vs Joe Frazier '72 (Loss TKO4) Smoking Joe got the taste.
Leon Spinks 6-0-1 vs Muhammad Ali '78 (WIN UD15) he actually won!
Brian London 35-13 vs Muhammad Ali '76 (Loss KO3) at least he was experienced ;)
Jean Pierre Coopman 24-3 vs Muhammad Ali '76 (Loss KO5)
Rick Thornberry 25-3 vs Sven Ottke '02 (Loss UD12) after the Calzaghe fight!
Okhello Peter 18-4 vs Oleg maskaev '06 (Loss UD12)

Lol at someone saying Rocky Balboa. First he gets randomly picked for a world title fight despite the fact that he's a barley professional club fighter, but he loses the fight and gets an instant rematch. If that was not enough, at like 60 years old he is given a title shot against the current champion just because... Imagine hearing Joe Frazier coming back to take on David Haye right now lmao.

Lol, mind you watching Ali's shakey hands and seeing Joe Frazier struggle to even see would still be better than watching Slow Fat Black American Heavyweight A Vs Slower Fatter Blacker American B. Honestly 90% of the HWs are that exact descripton, where its a decently strong guy who is awful at punching and moving anywhere, whats the deal with that lol.

They probably are, but the point is that neither had won a single fight against anyone who could be ranked in the world top 1000, let alone top 10.

Damon Reed vote here. Last seen going a full 12 round stinker with James Toney and getting his fragile glass mandible shattered against Rahman.

    Ali v Al 'blue' Lewis

Louis v two ton Tony Gallento

    Holmes v Marvis Frasier

while by no means are these the worst they were certainly terrible opponents far from worthy of a shot at the then richest prize in sports .

    who was 15-2-1 when
    This content is protected
defended against him was a terrible challenger

his last 5 opponents before fighting Hopkins were laughable for an American legend
    Look at this

    J Mason 15-11-1 lost 3 of his last 4

D Murdoch 3-0-0 lost his next 2 before retiring

K Parker 1-7-0 lost his last 3 won 1 and lost the other 3 only won 1 of his next 5 before retiring

J Harris 5-12-0 lost his 4 fights previous and 12 fights after

W Driver 4-11-0 went 4-19-0 after this fight

This guy is worse than Thornberry .

Popkins hate, walked him right into that one :patsch

Pudwill was a late sub, but look at Steve Frank below. Pudwill was 39-4-0 and had gone the distance with a world champ, but look at that below :patsch
