The more tests the better, that goes for everyone, you never know, hopkins may be on the sauce, anyone of them could be, it is a marvel what hes doing at his age, but is it all natural? I dont think pac or hopkins are juicing but you just never no until the needle tells you either way
Looks like Hopkins got the better of it again. Pascal thought he could put his arm around Hopkins because he had his boys at the press conference with him. Hopkins didn't give a sh!t, and told Pascal's people, all he has to do is make one phone call. lol.
He's ^^^so hard that he can't take the test... Bhop lost his hat and his cool in there. Looked like roid rage..
Like I said in another thread, you have to consider the size of the country to make good comparisons. Quebec= 7,8M people USA= 308M people In the last decade, Quebec produced 5 World Champions. To top that, the USA would have to produce 197,4 World Champions in the last decade. For each French Canadian fighter, you have to find 39,5 American fighters that are as good or better. Unless you can do that, you can't say the US are better than Quebec "per capita".
This thread was brought up right after the first Pascal-Hopkins fight : This content is protected 12-26-2010, 05:24 PM If some of you think PACQUIAO is on PEDs...then why wouldn't HOPKINS also be on PEDs? Surely Pacquiao going up in weight and being as successful keeping his speed and power could easily compare to Hopkins fighting being nearly 46 years old while displaying the stamina of a 28 year old, not to mention his surprizing speed. I remember Hopkins looking like a faded fighter against Howard Eastman before also averaging a low punch output against Taylor. Three years later at 43, he gets in the ring against Pavlik and suddenly looks like a 28 year old again, thowing combos from every angle and every round. Two years later against Pascal at 45 this time, after having a few ordinary performances prior to that one, he once again looks like he went back in time fighting like an energetic 28 year old. Know that I am entirely convinced that Hopkins isn't taking PEDs just like I'm also as convinced that Pacquiao is clean. The thing is...why don't anyone question Hopkins when so many question Pacquiao ? Double standards perhaps...?
Can't understand why so many boxing fans are so resistant to the idea of more stringent drugs testings in the sport. Regardless of who's suggesting it surely if random blood testing became the norm for fights it would be a good thing?
Some of you all are tripping. Hopkins isn't the poster boy for suspicion of being on P.E.D.s. That would be Pacquaio, or Donaire who both work with questionable characters for their strength and conditioning. If Hopkins is on P.E.D.s he needs to get his money back, because he is one of the most unathletic boxers out there, in terms of athletic ability. His physique is also not impressive. When was the last time Hopkins KO'd somebody? So what, some fights lately he is fit enough to go a hard 12 rounds, Tarver, Orneallas, Pavlik, Pascal. There are 60 year olds who complete marathons. Seems like more than a bit of hate here with Hopkins. I could see if he was KO'ing guys left and right, and had a chiselled muscular physique. He doesn't though. The last time he was in the ring, in the Pascal fight, he looked like he could make 168. He lives clean, he works hard, he is blue collar.
Lol at people taking this so seriously. They're probably shaking each other's hands and smiling, they respect each other. Press conferences are to hype the fight and I wouldn't be surprised if this was scripted beforehand. Yes no one has beaten Hopkins clearly since '93(Jones) but Hopkins is still showing his age. Like I said earlier, his ring smarts & timing are what keep him relevant. Also, tests DON'T catch everything. If Pascal was so passionate about testing he would've done so before the fight was signed. This may all be an act and I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
So is this how it's done, now? If a guy gives in a heck of a performance, the best thing to do is to accuse him of taking drugs? Anyway, I don't think Pascal was being serious there. He just wanted to say or do something to get under Hopkins' skin, and it looks like he may have achieved it. However, let's not make the mistake in thinking that was a good thing to do. Hopkins is a guy who needs to be motivated to perform. Tarver, Tito, Pavlik, Pacal 1.....these were all fights where Hopkins was forced back against the wall, and look what happened in all of those.
Sure hate on the black guy, because he continues to defy father time. He isn't a good candidate for P.E.D. accusations for the following reasons. He isn't the most athletically gifted guy out there. He is probably one of the least athletic black fighters in the game right now. What he does have is great technique and style. He gets the most out of what his body can do. He isn't KOing guys left and right. Sure he has wobbled, or knocked a guy down at light heavyweight(Tarver, Calzaghe, Pavlik) but he isn't in there devastating guys with his punching. You guys can't be harping on his cardio, because there are 60 and 70 year olds who complete marathons. The man lives clean and treats his body right. Hopkins was actually a bigger light heavyweight when he was working with Mackie Shilstone.
it's kind of true. What Hopkins is doing at age 46(!) is even more outlandish and unprecedented that what the youthful Pacquiao is doing.
