what about when you start to take into account all the fighters who moved up to heavyweight at some point, and competed there for decent stretches?

not just the fat ones. i know it's an extreme example but i'm feeling lazy... tyson was pure muscle, not much taller than hagler. difficult to expect him to be anywhere near as agile. this can have significant consequences for strategy etc.

I think when making this comparison relevant to the whole of boxing ie. past handful of decades, as well as the Pre-60s you need to merge the respective pointless junior divisions with their original 8 daddy.

ie super-Flyweights are small Bantams. junior middleweights really just small middleweights, cruiser in with heavy etc

Bantamweight could have been potentially ****ing awesome in the 80s were it not for 115's meaningless existence

what can we infer from the vast number of great lightweights? is 135 pounds the optimum weight for a fighter to showcase the greatest array of skills? have there simply been more lightweights than fighters at other weights? just putting these ideas out there... anyone have any thoughts?

if you happen to think there have been greater welterweights, the same questions apply.

    Revised:

    1. Lightweight
    2. Welterweight
    3. Middleweight
    4. Lt. Heavyweight
    5. Featherweight
    6. Flyweight
    7. Bantamweifght
    8. Heavyweight

Lt. Heavy and Featherweight being interchangeable, and Bantam/Fly the same. Heavyweight is a clear cut last place.

i think heavyweights need taking away from the equation due to the lack of weight limit. i do rate it the best division but for different reasons.

i'd say it's a toss up between lightweight and welterweight.

The madness of the Classic Forum, there are far more men competing for HW domination, competitively a weight range of 175-280lbs instead of a 4lb weight range, far more money extent, men from other divisions trying to muscle in, yet the Fly division that few men that haven't either been in auschwitz type conditions or born defromed can make the weight is in fact a deeper division :-( :patsch

Have you not realised that I have never, nor will ever, taken a single one of your posts seriously? What is the point of responding to what I say? Do you have a hard-on for me?

The good men in the heavyweight range get sucked up into just about every other sport.

There's only so many sports that nutrient deficient midgets can participate in, and boxing's one of them, hence the flyweights shitting on the heavies :good
