Has Mayweather Ever Struggled for a win?

Although I think the official scorecards were too close, Mayweather struggled offensively against De La Hoya. Had trouble getting past DLH's parrying and looked too reluctant to take chances and commit. I'm not sure if the whole fight qualifies as "struggling" but he certainly didn't look that great and was poor on the offensive end of the fight (regardless of what a meaningless system called Compubox said).

 

Immediately after the Castillo fight...Mayweather mentioned that he suffered an injury. I was like: "Uh Oh, here come the excuses". But in the rematch, Castillo came with that same "pressure-style" and got blown-out (although the scores were a lot closer than they should have been). But the 1st Castillo fight was his only close fight.

 

he struggled with hatton for the 1st 6 rounds before taking over.

He's a master at making adjustement.

He struggled with Mosleys over the top Right for the 1st 2 rounds. He adjusted, and never got hit with it again.

He's had moments of panic, but overall, he's dominated most of his fights.

 

You answered your own question. The 1st Castillo fight was a struggle...a lot of people thought he lost.

The Oscar fight was close. After that he has dominated most of his fights.

He also seems to get into trouble some times against southpaws. Watch the Corley and Zab fights.

Maybe a little bit against Oscar between rounds 1-6 and Zab between rounds 1-4 but he's always found a way to adjust and come out victorious

 

Apparently his Girlfriend sometimes puts up a bit of a stuggle. But his trademark lead left hook soon sorts that out.

This guy Darryl just will not even admit Floyd has competition. I thought Floyd lost the 1st by 2 / 3 rounds and the return was just as close.

Since then he has fought one close to prime fighter and that was Oscar.

 

DLH fight was really close IMO. Oscar was the aggressor, Floyd couldn't do anything to win convincingly.

 

He had trouble with Oscar because he wasnt throwing. He seemed to pace himself and wait for Oscar to tire.
Hes had though moments in fights like DeMarcus Corley.
You can say all you want about how brilliant Mayweathers defense is but he takes punches and has done so in many of his fights. Hes defense is world class but his ability to adjust is something of another kind.

he just let hatton keep coming forward and walking into his shots
