It's true, Martinez was ****in' amazing vs. Pavlik. And not only was his skills and speed and ****, especially the hook he was throwin' over Pavlik's jab, Sergio took some ****in' bombs :shock: in those mid rounds, but still hammered down on the gas goin' into the home stretch.

mad props to Sergio Martinez buddy.:yep

Kelly, nor his camp, ever made excuses. I'm telling you what I personally know. Yes, Martinez was the better man on the night. It would be stupid to argue other wise and nothing I said implies anything else. There is a difference between an excuse and a reason. This board doesn't accept that but that doesn't drive reality beyond this board. Well, it doesn't really drive reality ON this board unless you believe facts are determined by vote and/or popular opinion.

True statement. Knowing what I know and having watched the fight numerous times, if I had to place money on an outcome at 164/5, I would place that wager on Pavlik over Martinez without reservation. There is a REASON Kelly came on in the middle rounds. I believe it is because he had Martinez figured out. There is a REASON Martinez wouldn't take a rematch just 4 pounds higher. Do I KNOW that reason? No. I can certainly take an educated guess at it though. So, let Martinez call out people substantially smaller than him and people can hail him as the next coming if they want. I have to base my opinion and what I know and what I have seen.

He can't make 160, and has not been comfortable there for years. Team Pavlik ask Martinez for an over the limit catchweight fight, but Martinez would not even discuss it. Martinez adamantly refused to do for Kelly what Kelly did gladly for Jermain.

we will see how kelly does in his next fight as far as the old kelly which from what i hear he looks great and the hunger is there. if he is the old kelly i will have to disagree with you and say if there is a rematch with martinez kelly will win. and from what i hear martinez is going up in wt. and kelly has said he will fight him even at 165 which i wish was alittle higher. and that depends on how high martinez goes up. i heard 166 he is gonna go if that is the case this will be perfect:p:p

This is a great example of ironic boxing psychology.

We have two sides to the debate.

    1) pavlik is too good and this is a mismatch.

    2) pavlik is a recovering alcoholic and could well be finished for all we know.

Have a guess which side are the haters and which side are the fans.

It seems haters and fans don't care which side of the fence they sit on providing it's the opposite side.

Does anyone else find it ironic that it's the so called haters claiming this is a joke fight and pavlik is capable of beating much better opponents?

Well, they aren't saying he is capable of beating better opponents. They just saying they want a fight that he has a better chance of losing. With Ray it really doesn't matter what Kelly does. If Kelly raised someone from the dead Ray would be bitching that Kelly was interfering with the natural order of things.

In the end, Top Rank, Team Pavlik, etc.... Have made a decision based on what they feel is the correct next move for Kelly. I wish I could say I think they get a lot of pleasure out of pissing off the likes of Ray, but I'm pretty sure the truth is, they don't even care enough about the haters to take them into consideration.

I wouldn't call it a joke Kelly has had a long layoff and has been in rehab. He needs a soft touch like this to get his confidence back and hoepfully gets some rounds under his belt. I see nothing wrong with the fight and I'm happy to see him getting back in the ring.

:nono now now herm...what ray would say is that the lazarus character in your hypo was weight drained.

miranda was weight drained, taylor was weight drained....

ray is a "weight drained" guy.

The only top tier fighter Pavlik can beat is Froch. Once he steps up in class again, he will be beaten.

I wonder how many guys on this thread have actually seen Lopez fight. I haven't seen him fight. All I've seen is a few short clips on You Tube. The longest one is under 3 minutes. There's not a lot there to look at.

I do know that Lopez is undefeated, and routinely works out and spars with Marcus Johnson and Felix Cora. He must have something going for him, or he would not be keeping that kind of company.

At some point every prospect/contender must step up. Lopez is in a position to step up against a former middleweight who hasn't fought in over a year, did two stints in alcohol rehab, and lost his last fight.

The clip where Lopez is really sloppy and open is at the end of 12 rounds and both guys seem to be dead dog tired. Hard to gage from that without seeing the rest of the fight.

Then he should have no problems admitting that Pavlik was weight drained against Martinez.

It just happens a lot on this board. A hater is the one describing this fight against an undefeated prospect a mismatch it's baffling.

Personally I see nothing wrong here. Pavlik of old should whup this guy, but we won't know if he is the same until fight night.
