Im not whinning just simply stating the facts, if sports like baseball have taking steps then why not a combat sport like boxing? I will always defend boxing, but im not as blind like you are to see that change at times is needed. You my friend are the one that needs the slap in the face to wake up and also the one that should go to UFC where PED testing is not important...
Because there is no real governing body. Boxing has so many other issue that needs to be addressed before a standard test can even be considered. Lets start with the alphabet soup first.
Fighters should follow the test required by the commissions, unless amended or changed, should be respected by everyone. Now, if Floyd & Pascal wants OSDT type of testing, they should create their own boxing organization or go back to the Olympics where they came from.
Every medical expert including the medical experts from these boxing commisions themselves have said that the current testing in boxing is outdated. If a fighter wants to cheat, the current tests are easy to beat. What are clean fighters to do when they feel that their opposition has a leg up on them before they even enter the ring? The commisions dont want to change their protocol that their own doctors laugh at.........then its up to the clean fighters themselves to take a stand and embarrass fighters like Hopkins who believe they should be beyond reproach. Pascal is going to go through with the fight regardless of Hopkins testing or not, and all I've got to say about that is, "kick that PED using cheaters ass Pascal!":bbb:bbb:bbb
The NSAC made it known that under their jurisdiction, fighters are free to negotiate and hire a third party PED testing lab to conduct tests if the fighters can agree upon it. ......which means that a fighter has every right to voice he wants an independent 3rd party lab conducting drug tests!dealdeal Bernard Hopkins looked like a fool walking out of that press conference saying, "I'll take the drug tests required by the commision, knowing damn well these commisions are clueless in everything they do."
My problem is that Pascal is not really taking a stand. He signed a contract without any blood testing requirement, and I view his demands now as equivalent to post hoc whining about ring size, glove type, socks, etc. "Taking a stand" in my mind would be refusing to fight without the requirement, not simply ambushing Hopkins with demands at a press conference (likely for the purposes of fight promotion and/or psychological warfare). Let's not forget that Hopkins will probably provide Pascal with a far greater payday than any potential opponent with the exception of Bute.
I believe there are post fight urinalysis after every championship fight. I dont know if its true or not, but I've heard people say that some states dont even test for steroids. They'll test for things such as marijuana and other banned stimulants and substances, but not steroids.:think
I posted this in another thread, but I believe Pascal did'nt propose a drug testing demand during the contract negotiation on purpose. Pascal must have thought that Hopkins would surely walk out of the fight and find himself another opponent if he even mentioned drug testing. ......so if Pascal is willing to fight Hopkins regardless of Hopkins accepting the drug tests or not, what better way than to announce it when the contracts have already been signed? That way if Hopkins walks out of the fight, everyone knows its because he did'nt want to be tested and Hopkins would walk away looking guilty as sin. Now, from what I've heard, Hopkins had some bad choice of words in degrading Pascal before Pascal took the mike........... ......little did Hopkins know during his verbiage is that Pascal would pull the PED testing card on him. Hopkins can dish it out good, but he cant take it. Loved the way Pascal painted Hopkins into a window of guiltyness!:bbb
So what is the deal here? Is Pascal asking that Hopkins and only Hopkins be tested? If that is the case. Hopkins is 100% right not to take them. If it was Pacquioo and only Pacquiao tkieng the tests than he'd be in the right but he would not be Mayweather would be subjected to them as well. Pacquiao is 100% in the wrong. For all the Mayweathe family "A-side Meth" quotes both Mayweather and Pacquiao would be subjected to random testing. If both Pascal and Hopkins are to be subjected to the same terms of testing than Hopkins would be 100% in the wrong.
Bhop a G. " So why in my 23 years in boxing a young punk named Pascal is all of a sudden gonna demand me take drug test? " [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtXQd8Js3Wc&feature=player_embedded[/ame] Can't wait to see Bhop punish this punk.
