Smith is always going to be a character that divides opinion. Some of the stuff he's written on Boxrec is very good, he's honest, pretty articulate and generally sound. He does though let himself down with his attitude toward criticism or advice (as many do) with the ''well, you've never boxed so what do you know'' guff. I think some fighters need to realise that you don't actually have to do something to know something about it...... and maybe some fans need to cut fighters a bit of slack and appreciate that they give up their time to post on here. It's mutually beneficial of course. I don't recall Rob posting derogatory articles about Paul Smith - sure he doesn't like him and doesn't think he's much good (especially at 168 ) but fans have opinions about boxers just like they might have about footballers. I say that the Leeds defence is crap all the time, they're still better than I could ever dream of being, but it's just the way people are and how they phrase things. Still, at least he's not up until 5am on Twitter and Facebook like a certain Mackem pudding that needs to share a beer with Gary Shaw and Andre Dirrell.......
So explain how saying Frankie Gavin should be in better condition, an opinion shared many, adds up to me calling him "fat and useless". He said he would never post here again becuase someone brought up his personal life, and he still posts. I may have called smith a fat middleweight, which has been said by many other people, but i did not write an article or have a twitter war with him.

Paul smith is the one subject where rob let's his hatred blind him. Smith has I believe set the record straight in the article by saying the better Man won on the night, and that under the circumstances there was nothing he could have done to beat him. He has also addressed the weight issue. I see no reason to knock the guy any more. Just see how he does at middle.
he in no way says the better man won. he blames the loss on his trainer. you must be reading soemthing else. you probably wernt around a few years ago avid but i was one of smiths bigger supporters before he ripped me apart for not sharing his opinion on something completley seperate to his career.
It's not slanderous, it's be libellous if anything - but it's not even that. It's not like I accused him of anything serious, what's the big deal?
I knew that one was coming grant, but some of the other guys will bear me out on this: I was live at the fight. As soon as it was over I was on here using my phone, saying well done to degale, and conceding pauls defeat with dignity! In your face!
Watch the interview he did on Frank warrens YouTube. The better man on the night won. He said it. End of.
**** all in my face flower. I still remember the things you were saying about Degale prior to the fight to hype up your boys chances. And also how much you've changed your tune now. It's awful. I like reading what you have to say in non Paup Snith threads, and I do mean that, you talk sense, but if I were you I'd give up posting about him for a while.
He won't be the first or the last boxer to blame a trainer,a training camp, bad hands, pulled muscle, his Granny, the credit crunch etc. for a loss. They all do it. He's given DeGale credit for the win, no point in flogging a dead horse because the exact wording isn't to our liking...;O)
Message from Terry who wrote the article. banned from here. Hello chaps. Thanks for the reads. Here is the link to the article I read over the weekend. I didn't want to name the author or link in as a link in from the 'Scene is more than the guy deserves. Smith makes some good points, some will disagree with him but on a personal level he's one of the most approachable people in the game. He can't help being a Scouse! Peace. Terry PS Flint, Dunky Mac, GazOC -- wotcha chaps, miss our little debates. http://boxingbloggingatitsoddest.blogspot.com/2011/03/i-give-you-mr-paul-smith-part-time.html
