I want to know how many of you used to be real floyd mayweather fans, but now cant stand his guts.

I ask this because i feel his antics have let down his whole legion of supporters who deserve better. for the most part floyd fans are great, passionate and knowledgeable supporters of boxing. And the way hes pissed all over them LITERALLY not caring about anyone but himself is shameful.

As i said they deserve better. So were you once a floyd fan and over the last 2 years stopped?

I still admire his skills but not the man's character.

I'm a fan of the fighter but I don't give a damn about him as a person.

I wish there was a poll option of..

"I was and still am a fan of Floyd's boxing, but no longer like him outside the ring because he appears to be an utter ****."

I sort of have, I won't lie. He should've fought Pac a long time ago and just defeated him. All this other bs is completely pathetic.

I was rooting for him against Gatti and up until and including the Hatton fight. But when it became clear that he wanted nothing to do with a Cotto fight in 2008 I lost any personal interest in seeing him win.

I'll still watch whenever he fights because I like the sport first.

He actually won me over in the last two years, strangely enough.

I always recognized and respected his talent, but reluctantly - and disliked his public persona. Then after seeing more and more of what he was about as a father and the truth behind his already-legendary level of dedication to his craft before his last two fights...and then the fights themselves...

Yes, it was a blown up Marquez and a fading Mosley. Still. You'd expect that as the bigger and/or younger man he'd be able to win comfortably in those match-ups. Win comfortably...not dominate. Marquez and Mosley are still great fighters, so even a bit above their peak weight and/or past their prime you wouldn't expect them to be dominated. That's what happened, for every second of every round (except the +/- ten seconds where Shane had him "hurt"). That just drove the nail home of what an incredibly prepared and dedicated athlete he is - still, in his thirties and with very little left to prove having already cemented a great pro resume to go with his amateur accomplishments before he got to welterweight.

It's probably just that I don't care about a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight getting made and never did. Only people who did want fight that have a real reason to be disappointed with him. Otherwise, he's been doing his usual thing: long breaks between fights, being a primadonna in front of the spotlight and misbehaving away from it as has always been his way, and taking on over-matched opposition. He's no more guilty of doing that now than he was four years ago.

Boxers are mostly ****s, tbh. When you get the odd nice guy, great - but I don't go about expecting it. I always thought Floyd was a bit of a shithead as a person (and only softened on that stance a little thanks to his 24/7 exposure...and I stress, only a little :yep) so there really wasn't room for my opinion there to drop...it was already low. It's as a fighter that my respect for him has grown from a reluctant nod to full-on admiration. It's funny, because Marquez and Mosley are far from his best wins...but they illustrate exactly why he's been correctly hailed by many as the greatest combination of talent & discipline (in-ring) of his time. He had no reason to train as hard as he did to beat them as dominantly as he did. Just comfortably outpointing them both would have been enough to get the W's on his ledger. No, he kicked their asses. Regardless of all his advantages, these are two guys who just don't get their asses kicked.

I was a big fan when he was coming up. After the Gatti fight I thought Floyd was The Truth.

But...the way he's conducted himself as a fighter and a man made me lose all respect for him.

Sure, he has great defense and hand speed. Sure he adjusts well mid-fight.

But, he isn't fighting the best out there. He's making excuses.

He talks mad **** and doesn't back it up.

The only person he's had his fists on in a year is women and children.

Casual observers and fans hear that stuff and it turns them away from the sport at a time when it needs all the support and positive exposure it can get.

    Floyd is bad for boxing.

What? I know there was some domestic dispute with his baby mama, but was there an actual confirmed case (not a gossip mill rumor) of him laying a hand on one of his kids? :huh The former actually didn't surprise me; the latter would...a lot.

I've never been a fan of Floyd Mayweather Jr. He's not a particularly likeable character.
