Had one round with a more experienced boxer, he was tall, and kept countering my jab. My gym has 2 rings, and i was in the smaller one, and my opponent was very good at closing me down. My jab wasn't fast enough, and he would counter once to my face cos my guard dropped. I would always put it up for the 2nd and block it, then he would go to the body. Boy, that didn't feel good. Winded me twice.

I kept using my footwork to get away, but wasn't landing much back, so i was wasting energy. I got in a few good jabs here and there, and a nice right hand over the top, but that's about it. My fitness is really bad so i only had one round.

My main coach, who wanted to give me 'controlled sparring' to ease me in, wasn't here today. But i wanted to spar, so i asked another coach, and he put me in. My opponent is roughly the same weight (I weigh 73kgs, want to get down to 69), and about 2 inches taller (i'm 5' 11''), with a very long reach.

I didn't tell the coach to give me 'controlled sparring', or to go easy, i'd feel like a wimp if i mentioned that (stupid male bravado). My opponent told me after if he knew it was my first time he would have went a bit easier. I felt like i got beaten up, but some guys who watched said i held up pretty well.

My rib hurts a little. Can't wait to do it again, and to keep developing.

I loved this sport before, but after today i can't describe how much more i love it.

Lucky you... I got schooled by a 14 year old. All i could do is step back and cover up. He tried the move Jones did on Toney but i knew what was coming :hey
The love for boxing increased multiple times. It was a good feeling.

My first sparring went pretty well it was against a much more experienced guy,he was defending mostly and counterpunching, wait until you dodge a punch making someone miss big time and catching him with a counter,it feels awesome.:D
