Over the last 2 years, have you STOPPED being a Floyd Fan?

I laugh when people say things like, "I don't like him because he doesn't seem like a nice person". He's not suppose to be a good person, he's a FIGHTER. Monzon, Ali, Robinson, SRL, and Louis have done bad things outside of the ring but that doesn't erase the fact that they're great and have accomplished amazing things. What really should matter to us boxing fans is his inactivity and his unwillingness to face the best guys out there. Lol, "He's a bad person". What is this, a soap opera?

 

My opinion on Floyd hasn't changed a bit.

I like/appreciate his skills inside the ring, can't stand the persona he plays outside the ring.

I do wonder if he really is like that to those inside his circle or if it really is just a show.

No, you interpreted it correctly. But it was before the Pac-Cotto fight. And it was actually Mosley who proposed all kinds of catch-weights (from 145, then 143, all the way to 140). Obviously, Mosley was desperate for the fight. And Pac actually accepted the challenge on Philippine tv. But Arum was already hell-bent on Cotto (for obvious reasons).

And Roach understood this (that Mosley just wouldn't get the fight at the time). So again, you are correct, Roach saying "you're just too good" is Roach just feeling kind of sorry for Shane and trying to appease him.

For Floyd fans to get offended at someone suggesting Floyd ducked Shane and at the same time passing Pac ducking Shane as fact, seem a bit hypocritical to me.

The choice for Pac at the time was Cotto or Shane. Arum chose Cotto.

I stopped being a Floyd fan as soon as he stopped acting like a regular guy and started acting like a complete dick. For me this started to happen while he was at Lightweight. I was a big Floyd fan back in the day.

 

He said they would fight Mosley if he made 140. That's a weight he can't make. This was before Manny fought Cotto, and way before Clottey. This was even before Berto fought Urango. Mosley brought up that they fought Oscar at 147. So, Roach replied, "Well, you're not Oscar." When the interviewer asked him what he meant by that, Roach said, "He's better than Oscar."

In other words, he's too good. Meaning, they didn't want to fight Shane unless he completely weight-drained himself because he would pose too much risk for not enough reward. That's EXACTLY what people criticize Floyd for doing. You can't have both people. Either Manny/Roach ducked Shane, or Floyd never ducked anyone at 147.

 

Truth right here! :deal And same here. It was actually kinda nice back then when we didn't have 100 annoying ****s here, all recent bandwagoners, acting like they've watched Floyd his whole career. It was right after LW that his antics and bull**** just became too much to defend.

 

You gotta trust me on this, If that **** see's a thread that says something negative about Floyd He'll jump all over it :rofl:rofl:rofl It's like his job is to scour the site read all the thread and if he sees a name Floyd his vagina starts to tickle and then blab about Pac though the OP doesn't even have anything about Pac in it...... atsch

 

They went to Cotto instead of Shane. WHy would they need Shane when they were about to fight someone wh BEAT him? :huh

 

I still love watching him fight, but I like him less now.

That logic applies to Margarito as well. In fact, that logic applies to Oscar, too. I'm not saying they ducked Shane. I'm saying they ducked Shane as much as Floyd ducked Margarito or Cotto. (which is not at all)

 

Dude, I am not talking about logic, I am talking about the circumstances at the time they occured.

They were negotiating with Cotto when SSM claimed he'd go down to 140 to face pac. So it made more sense to fight SSM at 140, rather then Cotto, the guy who beat mosley?:huh

 

They probably do. Obsessions over fighters' lifestyles is what bothers me. What they do is their buisness. I am a big Toney fan and lately I've been seeing a lot of clips of him fighting but do I obsess over everything about him that doesn't include fighting? No. I also question why people obsess over money in boxing when they know they won't get any of it. "He's the best, he deserves more than 50/50! What did the other guy do to deserved 50%? This guy doesn't draw that much people to be in a PPV!" If it's not your money then why obsess over it? Buying a PPV or a HBO/Showtime channel is a choice. I just watch fights and fighters while studying them like crazy when I can.
