Fair analysis, top fella he was aswell. Not just for his boxing career, he will always be remembered by irish people for his personality.

I'd love to get hold of that rasalev fight. if anyone has it could they put it on youtube? it was a very hard fight for him. he took a few solid shots. Rasalev looked very tough a durable and Sutherland landed the kitchen sink on him. I'm not surprised Rasalev hasn't fought since after the pasting he took. However he gave Sutherland plenty back, which was surprising. Maybe Sutherland got more hurt by the shots than we saw in the fight. In the saviours movie I thought it was telling when he said, "its all about up here with me" pointing at his head. As you say we'll never know. You hear all sorts but its a dreadful circumstance that hes gone, very very sad indeed.

Definitely a very good fighter and man and someone who should be recognised for his talent and his personality.

same? more. better. degale getting a gold was a bit of a shocker. even in his early pro fights. he showed massive potential. he was the business. the way he beat tchilaia when he was trying to make the distance. hurting him with a jab. in comparison to degales lacklustre 4 rounder with the same opponent

groves i had heard about and knew but i didn't rate him as much.
it's not nice to say but i thought the groves - degale rivalry was only trumped up after sutherland passed away. chilaia

I rated Sutherland much more highly than DeGale. He was a huge fav in that semi final from what I remember & had a real go forward style that looked ideal for the pros. I heard that Sutherland had a pro deal inked providing he medaled at the Olympics & with his record v DeGale previously, may have overlooked him.

Saying that-the improvement in DeGale in the past 12 months has been phenomenal!

I wouldn’t read much into his earlier amateur results-he took a long time to fulfill his potential but really matured in his mid 20s.

    A huge loss was Dazzler.

I went to his pro debut up in DCU and the reception he got that night was brilliant. Shame what had happend to him as if he was about now he would be in the mix for the big fights at British and European level. I think his style was always suited to the pros he had the power and the skill to go a long way and I think he would of had way too much for DeGale and Groves in the pros. Sadly we never got to see those fights but for the shot time he had in the ring he will be remembered by a lot of fight fans.

Another case of someone dieing and people overrate to the maximum. He fought nothing but bums in 4 fights. Didn't bang or have great speed with a typical european defence. An average fighter who would have struggled with british level.

ROTFL!!! and the other olympians fought monsters in their first 4 fights? degale/gavin etc. still looked like amateurs when they debuted, sutherland fought like a pro even in the amateurs, even degale himself has said this.
