I've always had an underlying respect for fighters who go into the ring knowing that they have little to no chance of scoring a KO. They know they must be on their game for an entire 10-12 rounds in order to win the fight, sometimes just to survive it; especially when they fight power punchers. A good example of this is Paulie Malignaggi. His loud mouth aside, he knew going into most of his fights that he could get KO'd, but couldn't get a KO. I think that showed tremendous stones. Can you name some other examples of fighters without power who had successful careers? Do you share the same respect?
Paulie is a great example. I have tremendous respect for the risk he takes and what he does in the ring. :thumbsup
That guy...The absolute feather-fisted warrior. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=129817&cat=boxer
Malignaggi was guna be the name i threw in to be honest. Dont wana get the haters jumping up and down chasing their tails but also Joe Calzaghe. When his hands gave up on him mid way through his career he got going with the skill and work rate to win fights and whether his record is padded or not (not somethin i wana go into here) he did very well, he did have some power unlike Malignaggi but he was far from a power puncher for a large portion of his career.
I disagree, I think most fighters just go out there prepared to win at any cost, if its points its points, if the KO happens it happens.
Calderon is the ultimate example for me. He's been fighting at the top level, almost always against guys bigger than he is, with next-to-no chance of scoring a ko. The size difference is even more marked at 108 - Cazares and Segura look 3 or 4 weight-classes above him when they stand next to each other.
I've seen him fight one time against formerly undefeated Olympian Alex DeJesus and the guy definitely can't crack an egg but he's got great speed and he can box...
