I don't think he was better than DeGale, and I don't say that because of what happened in the Olympics either. I just saw little signs, taking silly jabs consistently from the poor opponents that he faced, it suggested he was going to have a fairly porus defence and be mostly reliant on his strength at the highest level.

It's not hard to imagine him beating Groves though post-Anderson. Big shame he's not in the mix with these two.

Darren looked exciting pro and would of entertained his fans but i remember his last bout he wasn't looking great and was getting hit and also cut. I think he would stand off to much and admire his work. He would of beaten Groves mind...in a entertaining battle and maybe progressed on good level. Don't want to underrate him nor overrate him...to me a pretty good talent who sadly left us. He is and always will be missed by fans and deserves upmost respect for being a good fighter as well as person.

I think Sutherland was better than Degale .The only reason Degale win the one in the olmpic's is cause Sutherland adapted to a pro style ( hands up nice and high and tried to get in and fight ) While he said Degale boxed to the computer .Sutherland say's it suited his style but if he got in and had a fight with him it would have been a different story( I agree ) He was getting comparison to Calzaghe as well .I think if he went to America like look at Khan with Freddie Roach who trained Steve Collins as well he could have been up there with the best supermiddle's .He could take a punch as well man had a good chin think what a trainer like Roach could have done with him .Watch this

but many people thought he was special before he died, and to be honest I was super shocked that degale beat sutherland in their last match, because sutherland looked much better in his previous fight than degale did.

Thing is, Sutherland's style and physical attributes were more suited to the pros. Even in his 4 pro fights, you could see even in his jab alone that he wasn't using it to put rounds in the bank, he was hurting opponents with that jab. His style, coupled with his power would have served him well in the pro game. Who knows how far he could have went, we never got to see how good his stamina and chin would hold up. All I can say is that he looked to have tremendous potential. I personally think he'd have beaten Lee in the pros if he had a decent chin.

I must admit to being ignorant to most amateur boxing and amateur boxing records of pro boxers. I liked what I saw in his first fights. But if I'm being honest it didn't really give us a gauge of how good je would have been had he had a full career. Basically we will never know. Shame though as he looked to possibly have the raw ingredients

Watced assault in the ring ? That's what they said about Billy Collins Jr .He deserves the benefit of the doubt on how far he could have went because he was an undefeated prospect .For me so does Sutherland because some top pro's said he looked the best suited to the pros out all the Olympian's .Ricky Hatton for one ( Barry McGuigan both know there boxing. Iin that vid I posted from boxingcore at the end Ricky Hatton interview ( good watch ). Posters saying he'd struggle at British level is a load of bull man and he wasn't on Degale's level is as well .Olympia bronze and with comparison like that off fighters like McGuigan and Hatton for me world class .

yes but if degale had (bare with me here) died after his first 4 pro fights I would have barely put him at british level... now look at him, but he looked ****ing awful

Really good video that, terrible what happened to darren he could have been world class, but obviously he had his problems and its shocking what happened.

It's hard to think about what he was thinking at the time
