Lads, just noticed that on Setanta Ireland they are showing Dimitry Pirog v Javier Maciel fight at midnight.

 

Yeah fair play to Buncey he gave me a great shout at the end of last week. He's been really positive and enthusiastic on the emails since he got hold of a copy. So it's not just for show on the radio, he genuinely liked it, which is great.

 

First night of sparring tonight and Im fairly happy with myself. They split it into 2 groups and I was happy to be put in the better group till I looked who else was as Tony and a few others would agree, I am a skinny ****er and the the closest lad weight wise to me still had 2stone on me. He was my first spar. Went well, was mainly just using my jab and following it with a hook to the body. We were evenly matched and I wouldnt be surprised if hes my opponent fight night. Next lad had about 4 stone on me and he was warned to take it handy by the coach due to weight difference. First thing he did was load up a straight that really buzzed me. I got on my bike for a few seconds but I was well pissed off with him. He was taking liberties imo. I kept my head though and kept sticking my jab in his face till i followed it with an uppercut that I put my body behind and knocked his head gear clean off. They put me with Dean then. Hes bout 15stone of muscle and was an international kick boxer for Ireland. I had some early success with the jab, hook to the body but then he caught me a left hook that knocked me silly. Managed to get on my bike flicking out my jab and he still caught me a few straights which all hurt. Was in with Ross next and I basically got on my bike and jabbed cos I was bloody wrecked. Was back in with the liberty taker and just walked onto him and loaded up body shots,finishing with an uppercut right in the balls. Finished up with Dean again. He caught me a 3punch combo and I honestly dont know what the punches were but they hurt. I flicked out a jab to try keep him off and he caught me a body shot that killed me. I watched him coming again and I couldnt breathe and it crossed my mind to take a knee but i stayed up and weathered the storm. Im still pissed off with the one lad cos he really tried to knock me out despite being warned bout the weight. Was great when him and Dean sparred though, Dean dropped him with his first punch and bust his eye. Think he also thought yer man had taken a liberty and didnt like it. Definitely need to work on my defence but Im pretty happy with my chin and delighted with my body shots. They definitely bothered the lads. Sparring again Saturday

 

Bide your time fella. If you can hold your own with him now then when you get sharp and stronger we'll see who is ****ing taking liberties then me auld flower!!! :bbb:bbb:bbb Sounds like this Dean fella knew his game and straigthend him out. Your man might learn some manners for next time.

Fair play it sounds like you gave it a good hard go for your first time out. Soounds like you have good all round punch resistance. I take it you've been living clean since you started training?

 

ya I feel sorry for whoever gets Dean fight night. Id like to say I could handle him if he was my size but that would be bull**** hes class and while he hurt me worse than yer man im not pissed off with him because Im fairly sure Dean could have knocked me out whenever he wanted. Im off the drink 8 months so thats not a factor (had 1pint at Casey fight alright) still smoking unfortunately but my cardios still good.

 

I got to scoop of ice cream that is delicious to serve. Waiting for confirmation and will bust it open on my faceybuuk
