Whilst i'm not disagreeing with Toney on this....just because its James Toney doesnt make a lot of difference. C'mon you know the guy talks so much rubbish..espcially about his own abilities. And anyway you could ask a dozen other equally skilled/famous boxers and they'd give a different view. Till you get 2 guys in the ring its always speculation, otherwise every result would be what you expect it to be and in boxing thats far from what actually does happen!

The Cotto fight scared the hell out of Team Floyd. Why do you think that is? Cotto has more power than Floyd and has (or at least had) exceptional timing. Didn't matter. Back in the day, Floyd threw enough punches -- and threw them in combination -- to win rounds from a guy like Pac. That day has passed. Floyd's best chance against Pacquiao, at this point, is a Hatton Check Hook scenario. Unfortunately for Floyd, as made clear in Pac-Cotto (and Pac-Clottey, Pac-Margo), that strategy doesn't look so safe any longer. There's a reason why Floyd went into reverse, and into Accuse Pac Of PEDs Mode, after the Cotto fight. The reason wasn't because Pac or his chin looked vulnerable. Floyd beating Pac on points, at this stage, is like imagining Lewis could have beaten Vitali on points: It ain't happening. One guy just throws way too many punches for the other guy to keep up. So you better be able to get the KO/TKO, and/or you better be able to induce a bad cut. Or else it's Vitali/Pac by UD. I picked Mayweather over Pacquiao for years on here. The Cotto fight changed my mind. I guess it changed Floyd's as well.
Toney just gave his opinion on who he think would win the fight.. His opinion matters just as much as y'alls.. Don't hate on the dude just because he picked Pac to win.. Some people get offended so easily.. People take **** way too seriously and get defensive, especially for only a pick..
This is the same guy who ran from Mosley for the last 6 rounds of the fight while Floyd punked MOsley for 10.5 rounds str8. He also has better raw power than emmanuel, but couldn't do marg in like emmanuel in. **** that power ****. Cotto often panics and then gets on his bike, he's not even great on the backfoot, throwing punches with poor technique and little leverage. Marquez has less power than any of the recent kids emmanuel has been fighting, but his timing and accuracy stopped emmanuel in his tracks. Smart guys will walk you into shots. dumb guys will push their punches. $ knows how to feint and then catch you with **** you don't even see coming. You ****ing with the best. FLoyd's an American meaning he knows how to play the clinch game to stop an offense. He's not some naive foreigner who feels a need to prove things by being a "warrior" and fighting for every single second of the round.
You have some good points here. But I think you're underestimating Cotto. Or at least the guy Cotto used to be. I thought Mosley beat Cotto. Still, Cotto fought a smart, skilled fight. He has a lot more ability than people think. Cotto couldn't do anything with Pacquiao. Basically nothing. Compare that with his fights against Margo and Mosley. One can argue he lost both of those bouts, but he got a lot done in each of them. Remember what Margo's face looked like after the Cotto fight? Cotto was breaking Mosley down early in their match as well, forcing SSM to retreat. Against Pac Man? Nothing. Mayweather is at a different level than Cotto. No argument there. And, he is a master of walking guys into traps. But the reason why Team Floyd talked about Pac as like a Filipino soldier who was bulletproof through the usage of substances was because Pacquiao is a whole different kind of guy himself. And if anything, he seems better now than he once was. He has more skills now, and his physical ability hasn't really started to fade. Mayweather isn't the same fighter he used to be. Maybe it's just because he's heavier now. I'm not sure. I'm not saying there is no way he could beat Pac. PBF still has large size and reach advantages. But I doubt that he could beat him now, even though I think the point is probably moot. I don't think either side really wants this fight, at least not right now. We'll see if I'm wrong.

I thought Cotto won the Mosley fight, but that's a different story. emmanuel has a good chin and can will himself through a few shots. The smart boxer will find a way to tap that body because anyone can be hurt there, and it'll pay off later into the fight. It's like investing in the right business and enjoying the dividends later. Can't forget clinching either.
