Why does everyone I talk to think Tyson would not have a prayer with Ali? I mean Earnie Shavers gave Ali hell, and I would say Tyson hits harder than shavers, so I think it would be a close match, IF ali could survive the first few rounds of a prime tyson, i believe Ali would win it in the later rounds.

  2. There are plenty of people that think prime Tyson would KO1 Ali.

Personally, I stay away from hypothetical matches because they are so unsatisfying. They will never happen. :fire

Ali was leaving his prime by the time he jumped in there with Shavers.

I for one MYSELF dont believe Tyson would beat Ali.

But then again anythings possible in boxing which has been proven time and time again.

Mike Tyson could have very well beaten Ali .....Whos knows what could've happen.

the ali that fought shavers wasnt prime, its tyson wouldnt get close to prime ali, too fast with both hands and feet, yea the ali that fought shavers might end up losing to tyson

Tyson did not hit harder than Shavers, as a matter of fact his one punch power can't match Shavers, you can ask Larry Holmes about that one.

Tyson could give Ali hell, but prime Ali was something else, that was not the Ali who was troubled by Shavers, go look at his fight with Terrell.

Prime Tyson imo would def beat Ali, ofcos I'm prob biased cos Tyson is my fav heavy of all time. I think he was deceptively quick and woulda touched Ali at will...

sometimesw when i look at tysons original record before he derailed, his ko% was just retarted, the speed and natural power combined with his trainers 60 years of boxing knowledge makes me believe he would have won, but ive seen in tysons early days those tall slick guys gave him problems and would go 12 rounds.

There is a whole generation of boxing fans who believe that Mike Tyson was a much better heavyweight than he actually was. If Tyson had fought during the Ali/Frazier/Foreman era, he would have ranked alongside guys like Quarry, Bonavena, Chuvalo, and others. We would remember him as a good contender who never won a world title.
