Theres a massive difference in that Calzaghe got caught by a shot, got up and carried on Bute was staggering around the ring and was fortunate the ref didnt stop the fight, then Bute had a longer count and was leaning on the ropes
It's a machismo thing. It's the same reason as to how Pacquiao won the 12th round of the Morales I fight. Morales, being a macho guy, went southpaw on Pac just to prove a point. Calzaghe does the same things. He likes to prove people wrong. It's not a fanboy thing. It's what everyone since fights long before Lacy knew. There's a reason why people thought Lacy would knock Calzaghe out, because his pride would sooner or later force him into a firefight. Too bad for them, he did get drawn into a firefight and still won.
What else could Joe do? He is relatively unschooled and shoe shining guys and throwing a ton of punches was his style. It's more like he was sticking to the only plan in those fights than getting drawn into a war because he is too macho. His stamina and durabilityare more than impressive and had to be with his style.
This is way too early to predict considering Bute hasn't fought an elite fighter just yet ..I'd like to revisit this once he has fought either Kessler ,Froch ,Ward or Dirrell to make a better assesment ..
