One of my all-time favorite fights. The fight was far from a domination though. Morales won a close but clear decision. Erik turning southpaw in the 12 round was badass as well, showed the granite chin he use to possess. Morales was past his best days and was still able to beat Pacquiao but Pacquiao has improved a lot since that fight. Manny was also a primarily one handed fighter up to that point. That whole card was fantastic and the crowd was great. Wish I could have been there live.
It would have been even more amazing, if Morales would have retired after this fight. That fight was the turning point in Morales's career.
yeah, you can tell he was a one armed fighter by the way he's furiously throwing with both hands at all times.
But ya, that fight is one of my all time favorite fights..... Morales with one last hurrah, and put on an amazing performence. Turning southpaw the last round????? Legend.
Not blaming Manny, he's fought everybody there is to fight who's willing to fight him. He's a ****ing beast, love that guy.
My favorite Morales fight of all time man. What he did in the 12th round had me going nuts. Never seen anything like it before.
oh yeah... I was there for that fight Living in Vegas is so great lol... unfortunately I was also there to see a diminished EM get beat down by Raheem. First thing I did when I moved here was buy a ticket to see MAB beat Hamed. My first live fight was one of the greatest moments in my favorite fighters career
NAW I HEAR YA, I KNOW U KNOW WASSUP, JUST THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO TRY AND SAY HE HASN'T FOUGHT ANYONE, BUT ON THE REALS, WHO'S THERE TO FIGHT, AND THEY SEEM TO NOT SEE IT
Eric is a legend. Barrera was a better win but this was his best performance imo. Past his best & an underdog & he fought a great fight. Manny wasnt especially gracious in defeat.
Erik just couldnt pull the trigger like he used too and getting wobbled by Raheem was indication of things to come. His right hand still had power, but overall Erik wasnt the same fighter. He gained weight and then lost some to fight Pacman twice more physically he looked out of shape to me. 122-126 Morales was an ATG and hell of a fighter. One of the few fighters Merchant always had highly regarded.
I love the first round where Pac has Morales trapped on the ropes and Morales just comes back with a vengeance to back Manny near the opposite ropes. Great moment. I also like when Morales makes fun of Pac's stupid hands up after getting hit thing. That was priceless. Can't believe Khan copied that from Pac, he looks more awkward, gangly, and ridiculous when he does it.
gotta disagree here. Manny with his performance in that loss earned the right to prove he could best Morales and if not for the rematch and the rubber match a huge chapter of his career would have remained unwritten.
great fight. this kind of fighters are what boxing needs, very entertaining. unlike the style of so called "bla sli af am"
Like I said, I watched that fight live and from ringside it seemed like EM just couldn't react quickly to anything anymore. Raheem was teeing off with shots even *I* saw coming and just whopping Erik upside the head. If Zahir had hit me like he was hitting Erik I would have been on my back and sliding for 10 feet. When Manny was doing it in their rematch it was sickening, sounded like a big mallet hitting a pumpkin. I wish to hell Erik would just retire, you don't get hit like that over and over without taking permanent damage.
