I remember seeing him in Jackass the Movie and it showed some of his knockouts. Was he any good at all as a boxer?
Not to hate on the man ( he did hit hard), but it was more like a circus intermission or side show in between fights. Very entertaining though.
It was hilarious to watch a fat blob wrapped in an American flag KO homeless drug addicts (and occasionally get KO'd by them) at state fairs. I wouldn't call him a boxer though.
Call me crazy, but I would LOVE to see Tyson vs. Butterbean in a 6 rounder. For the record, was he a good boxer? Sure, for his level he was. As long as one recognizes what level he really is on.
His power is good, but he is MASSIVE nowadays compared to the mid 90's. I'd like to see him and either Toney or Tua go at it.
butterbean today is like 450 pounds he slow but still got's power but he fights MMA now. but butterbeans prime was 300-350 he was a ****ing beast I don't care what anyone has to say about him here Butterbean was a TRUE hero he inspired millions of overweight ppl that yes YOU CAN BE OVERWEIGHT AND SITLL KICK BUTT. WAR BUTTERBEAN a True hero and a great 4 round overweight boxer. Its cuz of the Bean I got into boxing.
Legit punching power, if little else. He did go the distance with old Lary Holmes, so maybe he picked up some real skills along the way.
he beat some decent journeymen... but he knew what he was... a profitable sideshow. he never tried to get in shape and make a run.
nice respectful thread. butterbean is a guy that's great in perspective, as has been said. for what he was, he was a fun, entertaining and somewhat talented fight
