I know most will say Sugar Ray Robinson, BUT just because somebody is older doesn't mean their better. lot of names come to mind, my personal favorite jake lamotta, hagler, monzon, etc. But I'm going to throw a name out there. Roy Jones Jr. i watched him handle a prime Hopkings with one arm. Roy Jones Jr was unhittable as a middleweight and i would say that he would have a REAL chance at beating any middleweight of any era. lot of people seem to mostly remember the 175 PD or 200+ pd Roy. we remember him getting KOed later in his career, does anybody remember that this guy was unebeatable at middleweight?

by accomplishments there are better middlweights, but by talent and unreal fighting ability i cant picture anybody beating RJJ at 160 from any era.

To be honest, Sugar Ray is not the best middleweight.

Fitzsimmons and Greb before him have much better middleweight records.

In my opinion, Hagler and Monzon have better records after him.

Head to head there are a number of guys you wont expect such as O'Brien, Ketchell, Darcy, Burns, Hopkins, Jones Jr, Toney, Overlin and many others who would give him all he could handle and are capable of beating him, although expect him to find awayto beat most of these. Somewhere in the top 10 is probably the right place for him and probably about 5th, as a middleweight.

    Nobody asked mne but:
Ray Robinson was the greatest all around fighter of alltime, and the best fighter I ever saw ringside
But as a middleweight, I believe he was a little past his peak and would have certainly lost
to a much stronger Harry Greb, and Mickey Walker.
Ol timers in my youth always picked the Michigan Assassin ,Stanley Ketchell to beat
Ray Robinson at 160 pounds. It was said that "those that saw Ketchell fight, couldn't see
    any other middleweight".
In more modern times I give Billy Conn, Fred Apostoli, Freddie Steele, Marcel Cerdan
and Marvin Hagler as middleweights who would be 50/50 against Ray Robinson...
But at 147 pounds the prime Robinson aided by his near 6ft frame, was superior to any
    welterweight in history.
    What say you ?

this guy bienstock has a very unhealthy weird obsession with robinson.

les darcy was the best. GOAT. KING OF KINGS. would have destroyed that one eyed bandit harry greb

    Hagler without a doubt.

**** Greb - that overrated piece of ****.

Many commentators and writers of the day called his fighting style (throwing so many punches consecutively) amateurish.

He got beat by Tiger Flowers - a fighter who has about 4.7 billion losses (and has the ****ing word FLOWER in his name).

Hagler's the best. Followed by Robinson. Followed by Greb.
