If PBF had 80+ pro fights and would face SMWs at the end of his career, he'd be punchdrunk too. And he'd probably been KOed a couple times.
Exactly. Overall I would say that Mayweather has slightly better pure defense, but Toney is a master at countering out of the pocket, he's way better at countering than PBF.
PBF, but it's easier when you box safely all the time, and you're the bigger guy so much. It's harder to never get hit when you are coming forward like JT does. Toney is also a little short guy who's has been fighting big guys forever. Even Barkley made Toney look small in the ring.

Mayweather by athleticism. Like people say, Mayweather had legs too not just the shoulder roll. It's not but much though, Toney had equal defense in the pocket.

Floyd. The good thing about Toney's defence is that it directly leads to his offence. He slips a punch and is always in a position to counter. I wouldn't even really class Toney as a defensive fighter per sé but Floyd certainly is. He uses his legs, speed, and reflexes along with a great sense of distance and timing to make sure he's rarely at risk of taking a hard shot. Toney often takes that risk to land his punches.
Excellent point good sir. **Off topic a hair here: IMO too, Toney has one of the most hellacious chins I've seen. I remember Peter II (IMO, one of Peter's finest showings), Peter was throwin' with some bad fookin' intentions man.
