he was not really that hyped up. Most people saw him as a powerpuncher who lacked craft and alot of people don't like him because of his criminal past.. And also, the hype died when he got injured and he left GYM (now he's back)

David Lemieux is my favourite prospect right now, he is the goods. I remember watching his Title vids, was that punching power taught or is it just a coincidence he grew up into such a puncher?

My take on the whole "are punchers born or made" issue is similar to the compromise ultimately reached between Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy (NBA analysts) on the matter of whether pure shooters in basketball are born or made.

Jackson insisted that an ATG such as Reggie Miller or Ray Allen has more innate ability than normal people...and that a given person can't ever be as good as they naturally are no matter how much time & effort they put into honing their skills.

Van Gundy argued that even with natural talent, nobody could reach anywhere near their potential without the obsessive work ethic that both Miller and Allen are legendary for...and resisted the idea that very much of their talent was naturally inborn at all.

Of course, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

With punchers as with shooters, the genetic lottery takes you halfway there. Talent is a big part. Dedicated and rigorous long-term training and a highly disciplined and idiosyncratic lifestyle (even when not in training) make up the other, equally important half.

Talent alone can only take you so far if you don't have the discipline; likewise discipline alone can only take you so far if you don't have the talent. When both are combined...wow. :scaredas:
