I have the same view on it. Goes back to my signature really, "not everyone who works hard is rewarded, but all those who succeed have worked hard". You can train all you like with no guarantee of getting those superhuman punching power, reflexes, speed, but if you did have them, you would need to train damm hard to hone and discover them.

Reason why I asked with lemieux in particular is because I remember seeing him do those tutorial vids when he was a kid and Russ Anber teaching him how to throw punches perfectly. It seems too much of a coincidence where Russ takes this kid, teaches him and everyone else how to throw a perfect punch and 10 years later, hes a huge puncher. Did Russ just strike lucky in getting this kid or was it his teaching? I guess a bit of both.

I've just watched 10 of his fights today back to back, absolutely love his style! IMO a much better prospect than Alvarez!

Power is one of the few things that is almost (if not entirely) impossible for a boxer to improve, like his chin.

Just ask Lemieux. He would tell you that he had to work very hard to master everything he can now display in a boxing ring, except for his power. That is 100% natural. He was knocking teenagers from his neighborhood whe he was 9!:scaredas:

Do not confuse punching power with KO%. Power is the ability to transfer as much body weight you can as quickly as possible. Some guys have it even though their technique is far from great or they do not train seriously (Miranda, Mayorga, etc.), in which case their KO% could possibly be better. On the other hand, some fighters with less power can become killers if they train hard, have an excellent technique, above average accuracy and great timing (ex.: Bute). But their power has not changed.
