It kind of sounds like you've never seen Gevor fight. If you had, you'd realize Gevor should have got the decision against Sturm himself so to talk like this would be a good warm up for Macklin is naive.

Laz Gevor would beat Macklin IMO and thing is even if he didn't he hits with decent power and comes to fight...it would be a war and a war that takes miles off clock. Macklin can't afford to go through them type fights if he can get away from it.

Use a bit of ****ing common sense.

Gevor is no walk in the park, it is a tough fight and one that Gevor would be the favourite for. So why take a massive risk like that when you can fight Sturm straight up?

This was Macklins face against a lesser opponent....i don't think a fight with Gevor would in your words ''do him good''.....

You just said that Sturm is better, but Gevor, who Sturm beat, would also beat Macklin?

Then, in that case, what's he going to achieve by going into a Sturm fight? A certain loss? You're saying he should just take the Sturm fight just so he can say he fought for a world title then??

Why not fight Gevor? If Macklin cared more about actually stepping right then surely Gevor would be the first right step and if he deals with him aswell as Sturm did, then the Sturm fight would be all good.

Why go into a fight which (I think) he's certainly going to lose? Gevor lost against Sturm, so Gevor would have been the right damn step before going into a Sturm fight.

I haven't seen the Gevor-Sturm fight (I think). It looks close, but Sturm still won. Fine, you can bring that risk-reward bull into this but I still think, if he was looking at steps, then Gevor would have been the right step before going for the shot against Sturm. I mean, he only had 2 damn weeks before fighting!

He's only going to go into there to make up the numbers and say that he fought for a world title.

Both would beat him, I said that before, but seeing as he was 2 weeks out before his fight, why not just go ahead. I mean, how much of a reward is it going to be in taking the Sturm fight? A bit more money? Saying that he fought for a title?

    Same as above.

:huh errrrmmmm yeah the chance to win a version of the middleweight world title....why go into a 50/50 fight that even if you win may put you out of ring for 6 months maybe...when you can go straight to title?

What you just said to Gemmell is bollocks btw....just because A beat B doesn't mean A beats C. Boxing doesn't work like that Laz...end od the day Sturm is a vulnerable world champion who can be beaten and Macklin does carry a dig that gives him a decent chance.

Yep, Macklin takes a certain loss against sturm, i have always belived macklin thinks of himself as genuine world class, which he clearly isn't.

I think he's going to lose both, so I don't see the benefit anyway, but I can obviously understand that from his POV so fair enough, but I didn't like his mind-set on Ringside anyway, and I did say that day that Macklin didn't look like he fancied it, and with pulling out 2 weeks till the fight, just sucks*.

I agree on his mindset he did look shaky about the fight even said he was nervous about it. I think he may of lost confidence from the Varon bout which he didn't look great in at all. Maybe he thinks he needs that one big fight to get the juices flowing and just go for it against Sturm.

He looked terrible in the Varon fight. I mean, you've probably seen a lot more of Sturm and Gevor than me, but I don't see how he has a solid chance in fights against Sturm or Gevor.

I think both beat him tbh Laz. Thats why i think it's best he goes for Sturm least it's a worth while loss and maybe less of a beating. I see the Gevor fight being a battle of attrition.

Plus, he's going to have confidence in his own ability. He's not going to go into a fight thinkinhg he has zero chance.

But you just said you haven't seen Gevor fight..?

Laz you really sound out of your element here. You're talking about Varon, yet Gevor is very much like Varon but about 5 times better and you're talking like this would be make sense as a tune up for a fight with Sturm. Despite this styles factor and also that Gevor got robbed against Sturm, he completely outworked him and got no credit for his bodywork in that fight. So no, it makes no sense as any kind of 'progression'. He either takes the title shot against a similar level opponent or he takes a similarly difficult fight for no title. It doesn't take a genius to work this one out.
