You are right, why fight Benitez, Duran and Hearns when he could hvae fought some great fighters ...Norris was a very good boxer puncher with excellent speed. But, his VERY shaky chin and lack of toghness would fail him against SRL. SRL proved that in his prime, he could comae back in win in a tough fight. Where as Norris, one the tough got going ... Terry got going, to the nice soft cozy canvas and stayed !!!

All I'm saying is that he could have done more with his career. Now what Leonard did in the early 80s is a good start but why stop there?

So long as he was active, why waste his time on such as Lalonde, Howard? why rematch Hearns when he had come across as a shaky opponent?

Why not treat us to an early 1989 match with then superstar Micheal Nunn?

I think Ray hated arrogant Mike but was too scared to face him after watching him rigside mop the floor with kalambay, the second best middleweight

He'd rather face pudgy Duran any day

left handed Mike was slick, quick, and wouldve made Ray Leonard sick

Mike wouldve had to carry Ray just to give the fans some decent action, sort of like Johnson-Ketchel

    what are you talking about?

Terry's chin didnt fail him in the fight

Who was it that took two trips to the floor?

It was Ray's chin that was shaky you fabricator!

all you SRL fans do is fabricate even when the evidence is on tape. In fact, I see fans say such things as "Terry couldn't knock out Ray" as their support. Talk about twisted!

you're never going to win a debate faricating no matter how hard you try

Norris & Ray could met ten times and he still couldnt floor Terry

    Terry would always deck Ray

In fact, I think after their 1st meeting that Terry wouldve rendered Ray unconscious by rd 7 by the time their first rematch was over

Like I said, I think Ray was the better fighter but head to head he just never would do well on account of Terry's speed & all around prowess

I was a big Ray Leonard fan back in the day. He earned respect with the drubbing of Benitez. He gained recognition in losing to Duran and became a superstar by winning the rematch. He earned his Masters against Hearns and his P.H.D. against Hagler. Who cares if Hagler was shot? It's the win and the recognition that goes along with it that matters

But dammit, there is no way in HELL Ray Leonard is ever going to get his hands raised against the likes of Norris, Nunn, or Camacho. All three will always leave him in the dust

Damn rooster, if you were ever a fighter, you would be a tenacious fighter ! I actually like Norris career way more than Camacho or Nunn... When Norris won, he won big and against some good names. I also thought that he laid it on the line way more than Camach or Nunn... I just feel that in SRL`s prime, its a much different fight, but I never said easy for SRL. I tend to throw out SRL losing to Camach like I throw out Norris losing to Rosenbaltt and Boudani (spell ? ). I`m talking Leonard of 81 Hearns vintage... I actually liked watching land that nasty left uppercut off of his left jab...

I have reason to be confident. I was confident BEFORE the match came off. Not only did I predict a Norris win but an easy lopsided contest and possible stoppage against the logic of the media and fans.

I visualized Norris with his speed, whizzing past Leonard and leonard missing. I KNEW beyond all doubt that Norris would give him fits

so it didnt surprise me at all to see him quit after it was over. In fact, I expected it

Everyone knew that Norris would give and old worn out SRL fits, so that is no revelation. SRL 81 Hearns edition, whole different monster. It would be incredibly naive to say otherwise. Saying Norris dominated prime Leonard is in the same league as saying Marciano Ko`d a top notch Louis... I feel and have always felt that Norris true china chin will always keep him of anyone top list of champs... And always leave him at risk in any fantasy fights ...

Who are you kidding? few even knew who Norris was at the time, being that he'd made only one defense. Those that did know had images of Julian Jackson in their heads figuring Ray would do the same. Sugar would give the young upstart a boxing lesson while humiliating him and breaking him in half to the body

There isnt one guy out there in the media or fans that said otherwise. In fact, they were asking me after the fight "how did you know?". They just couldnt get their minds around the one sided little affair

I told them its cuz Ray didnt have the experience and that he deliberately avoided his type.

I told them I saw the problems he had in the Hearns fight when Tommy switched tactics and reduced Ray to your average plodder. Any movement on Hearns' part made it so that he could not set himself and at the same time, made it so that he had to concentrate on protecting himself

and that was just Hearns in survival mode.

With Terry it was a whole different story. Norris COULD hurt Ray Leonard. leonard could not hurt Norris. That plus, Norris had all of Hearns' movement and more. I knew that if Terry did not want to be hit, that there was no way Ray was going to be able land a combination. And he didnt except for late round 1 and rd 11

Even at that, young Terry did not blink

as for Terry's chin, I dont see why that is a question. I think the reason people bring it up is becuz haters need something to hang their hopes on. But the way i see it, I did not hear commentators say that Ray had lost any power. Ferdie Pacheco said he could still punch. And Terry tooks Ray's best shots without a problem

Ray could not do the same against Terry so it is Ray that would have the problem taking Terry's shots. That is why Terry will always win and for Sugar Ray, fighting Terry will always be an uphill climb

Terry's just got too much speed for him!

Boxing people were picking SRL over Norris ? I and most of the boxing people that I was in conversatio with all felt that a 35 yr old SRL TEN years removed from vintage Herans SRL was not going to get it done against Norris. You are absolutely blind if you think SRL was anywhere near prime against Norris. I need a good laugh tonight, so help me out. Tell me with a sraight face, and post it here. That rock-jawed Norris would have taken Hearns best shot and not get KO`d... Please, I need to hear how china chin who was knocked on SEVERAL occasions, had a better chin than SRL ? If canvas back Norris had fought Hearns, same scenario as against Jackson, down for the count goes Norris !!!!!Yeh and Terry was a BIG puncher, he couldn`t do anything with Rosenblatt who had a shaky chin as well... Terrible Terry Norris, one of THE best chins in boxing history !!!!
