SOB Ward gets "all" his fights in his home town and does not have to take a deduction at all, not once. Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he got "all" his fights in his home town, with his personal referee! Judges, he tried to get all his judges as well. So.............why can't Froch get a fight in England?

He got a fight in England.

Again, Froch signed a contract. That contract specified the locations of his fights.

Showtime are bankrolling this tournament. They are the ones putting the money up so that Froch without a decent television deal in the UK can earn seven figures for his fights.

We've already seen with the Khan/Maidana talks the premium the stations are placing on having the fight in America. The semi-final is simply less valuable if it comes from outside America. They'll get less coverage in the media because journalists won't be on site to cover and the fighters won't be in the US to do promo spots. Because of that even if takes place in the middle of the night UK time and airs live in America it will get less viewers than if it had taken place in America. Why would Showtime be willing to go for that?

To me this offer smells of smart bit of politics from Froch. As he already said simply showing the fight in the UK involves additional expense for Showtime as they have to fly in all their production crew, etc. Given that HBO cut in half their offer to Khan for the Maidana fight if it took place in the UK - is £250,000 really enough to tempt Showtime, let alone Glenn Johnson? It just feels like a sop to appease fans in Nottingham that he is trying his best to get the fight to the UK.

The fact is you fight where the money is. The likes of Haye and the Klitschkos fight in Europe because European stations are their paymasters. Froch and Khan's paymasters are Showtime and HBO therefore they will fight most of their big fights in America for the foreseeable future.

Bottom line is Froch signed a contract to fight the semi-finals in America.

Can't believe how good a deal of things Ward got coming into the super six than the guys who were proven and had the belts.

Once froch has WON the thing (which he will) a homecoming fight in Trent fm arena v bute to decide the top dog. Froch knows what side his bread is buttered, and probably genuinely wants to fight johnson in England, but knows 250000 won't be a deal maker in getting the fight over here.

Was it Don King who said "In boxing you dont get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate"?

I'd love it if the fight was in England but its looking unlikely.

Lol at Froch pulling out his own money to fight in his own hometown. Does Mick do anything nowadays?

And Ward just gets rewarded it for nothing. He didn't even have the belt when he started.
