Dolphil plan 4 more 2011 shows and look for backers http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/march11/mar11_dolphil_sponsor_plea.html Sutcliffe claims Rigo was a risk Casey had to take and talks Anto Fitzgerald http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/march11/mar11_sutcliffe_corner.html To be honest I think Dolphil will struggle to get any backers for any of their planned shows. The last one was a big let down with numerous complaints from people who attended and also the way the fight ended, with regards to Fitzgerald calling out Lee, I would be pretty confident Lee would stop him early enough and he really shouldnt be on Lee's radar at this stage in his career.
St Michael's Athy ace Christy Joyce had to settle for silver at the Pavlyukov Memorial Youth Multi-Nations in Anapa, Russia despite a fantastic performance against Cuban champ Osnay Torres in today's welterweight final. The Cuban was awarded a 2-0 verdict, with both points coming in the third and final round of the 69Kg decider. Seventeen-year-old Joyce, a brother of European Union champ David Oliver, was right in the bout up until the final bell according to Irish coach Eddie Bolger. "Christy was magnificent and he gave it everything. I thought he was very unlucky not to get some scores as he definitely landed a few. He was right in it all the way and never gave up and was giving it his all right to the very end, " said Bolger, who is working Ireland's corner along with Tony Davitt in Anapa. Irish boxers were on the winners podium after six of today's finals as David Roche, Stephen Broadhurst, Gary Sweeney, Kieran Forde and George Bates all claimed bronze. "This was definitely the toughest tournament I was ever at, added Bolger. "The quality of opposition was outstanding. Our lads were outstanding also. They gave as good as they got and the entire squad gave it 100% in training and competition out here and we couldn't have asked for anything more from them." The Irish squad are due to arrive home via Dublin Airport at 7.30pm Sunday evening. How much does it cost for the people that do the White Collar boxing. Hiring out the venue and getting everything sorted compared to a pro fight. I would guess all would need a certain amount of security its just mad that the costs to put on fights is so high in a recessionary time. It is obivious the fighters purses should be dropped down as well as the cost of tickets and the prices of the venues should drop. I dont understand at this time and age when promoting if you have a venue that holds 5000 or more people why dont the promoters look at who is giving them the best deal offer it out to venues and then I would expect the prices to run shows to drop.
Not sure the cost, but Round Towers GAA club done one with the Carruths last night had 200+ people there at 20 a head- plus raffle etc..heard they made a few boob
Ah sure wrote the article sure . Bug eye wants to run a few shows in Dmublin and belfast soon and himself and ormonde are signed with him
x2 J Murray looked knackered in the last couple of rounds. He's tight at the weight. Andy could cause him problems.:bbb
I agree J Murray looked shite tonight. But I still think he beats Andy Murray 9/10. I just dont see it in Andy Murray.
With our one at the interviews we were told we have to sell at least 20 tickets each at 20 quid. All that money goes to the charity. Each fighter had to raise or pay another amount which was to cover the costs of venue, renting out gyms, expenses for Michael Carruth and the lads etc. The crowd doing ours go the full hog with elaborate entrances with big lighting displays, smoke screens and **** like that and have gone for a pretty good/expensive venue in the silversprings. Im sure if you skimped on some of them things you could run it off pretty cheap
my mate ran ours and we all done tyhe trainin ourselves a few of us were in corinthians and some were elsewhere but ill find out how much it was ..dont think it cost a bomb and we had all the proper rig out
