If Katsidis failed to win a title 3 times...Cant see John Murray do it?

Theres really no reason not to like John Murray, hes come up the proper way, has been given nothing and worked hard to get where he is. His style is exciting, hes a humble guy and as a fellow Manc i wish him the best.

HOWEVER...you saw him last night...this was a guy ranked 18th at european level....it was an awkward job anyway with Murray knowing nothing about the guy so fair enough there, but he didnt look too great to me. Everyones allowed an off night so im not writing him completely off...

I think he wouold even take a hiding from Michael Katsidis, a genuine world level operator whos failed at the final hurdle himself.

John Murray im afraid could well be one of those good British fighters who reigns supreme at European level but doesnt quite have enough at world level

 

I agree. You can't fault his heart, hunger, determination, etc...but I sadly have a feeling he will come unstuck once he steps up.

He was clearly rusty last night, was forcing his work aswell. But what stood out for me was, his balance and footwork was not good...at all. At World level, guys will take advantage of this...throw Murray in with a guy with half decent movement, and he will struggle.

Also, he is far too easy to hit, and like the pundits said last night...he doesn't use any work to close the distance, very much like Hatton at times. But Hatton could rely on his really quick foot speed to close distance, whereas Murray just puts his head down and charges in.

If Murray were to face say Marquez next, I would put a bet on Marquez stopping him in the mid rounds via highlight reel uppercut.

Imagine what Rios would do to him. I know MArquez is the better fighter but Murray is literally made to order for Rios.

I remember Al Hamidi outboxing him but getting jobbed. He was a journeyman level mover, if they ever put Murray in with a decent mover he's losing. A fight against Katsidis would be exciting though, 2 none elite brawlers going toe-toe, maybe Murray could beat him. JMM/Rios - forget about it, Soto I haven't been sold on so you never know he might beat him

 

Yeah, Murray would bring the best out in Marquez's combinations. It would be good to watch whilst it lasted.

 

Win lose or draw after 31 fights now is the time to find out.
Whatever happens he wont be an easy night for anyone but fear he would fall short.

Thats true, am sure a 'super champion' will be made, and Frank will make Mitchell v Murray for the nomal world title :deal

 

the super champion is already made, thats JMM and rios is the regular wba champ, rios would seriously hurt either mitchell or murray.

Murray is fun to watch and always gives his all but I really don't see him beating anyone at world class.

JMM would be a horrible mis-match - Juan would have no trouble figuring him out and lighting him up with combinations. Rios, Katsidis and Soto would be very entertaining style match-ups but I think they all walk right through him and stop him by the mid-rounds.

I like Murray but I just don't think he's good enough to mix at this level.

 

I dunno about Soto 'walking through him'. Murray is not that great but he'd have a chance against Soto.

Katsidis and Rios would destroy him though.
