This welterweight was a solid favourite going into the fight.

Things always look clear in hindsight which is a shame as it dfiscredits the win a little.

Probably the best, most watchable one-sided fight you could ever see.

I lost count of the number of headbutts Hopkins landed in that one - he was an expert at that. He was clearly the better man than night though - I rate it as the best performance of his career.

he even dragged winky wright, pavlik, and calzaghe away from their best weights

Right, this is what you hardly hear about this fight. Wasn't it originally for Sept. 15, 2001 (I think) ...in New York City. It obviously had to be postponed, a couple weeks and this kept Tito in New York a long time...tryin' to stay in FIGHTING shape.

Bernard's always in shape... but for these guys timin' **** to peak out on the set date, a couple weeks could have hurt some.:yep

Bernard was winnin' that **** anyways, but it might have been a hell of a lot more competitive.

True too. + Tito already had some wins at MW, correct? Not like he jumped straight up from WW or nothin'.

    Unbelievable :patsch.
Hopkins debuted at LHW and beat a fighter that was a former WW, and people are raving about it :nut.
How many times was Trinidad put down by smaller fighters before facing Hopkins? I know of 7 times.
Hopkins has never beaten a prime atg and has made a name beating smaller fighters

Tito had, had one fight a MW beating Joppy, yes Trinidad won in style but lets remember there was a hand wrapping query where Hopkins trainer made Trinidad rewrap his bandages.
Lets remember Trinidads record at MW or above is 3-3 and he looked like he could be stopped by Wright who wasnt a big puncher and had come up in weight and touched down against former WW Mayorga

Discrediting Hopkins's win over Trinidad is what you did incorrectly.

I put it in perspective. Hopkins was a full blown MW who debuted at LHW, Trinidad was a former WW who had been put down 7 times that I know of in lower weight divisions, there may have been more knockdowns so what do people truly expect? Hype builds up wins and make them sound more impressive than the facts actually are
