It appears as though Solis was doing ok but was really injured during the bout. His knee went out from under him and he could not continue although he was hit sumultanaeously......Is there any chance the bout might be declared a no contest or any possiblilty for a rematch......If Solis can get his knee back together and the Kiliscko's retire his future in the divsion looks bright...............:smoke.....
Nope he got stopped in a round, you re right he twisted his legs and tore a ligament or something but still he got hit clean and went down. No one wants to see such a bout now, if at all Solis has to remove a couple good contenders from the scene first to demonstrate hes still a force.
NO. Legit TKO 1 It will be 8 months to a year before Solis is back if his knee was a bad as they were saying.... so maybe by early 2012..... Vitali will be retired by the time it can happen IMO.... Solis will need to fight his way back to the top
That fight would suck, a rematch is not needed. I heard Vitali is looking to fight Adamek this summer and a rematch with Solis would just be a step down in competition. Let Solis fight his way back to the top and earn his shot.
How could the future of someone with such little passion for the sport and with such terrible discipline as Solis possibly be bright? Solis has a very bleak future in front of him unless he goes to hell and back and turns his undisciplined lifestyle around.
First we have to see how long it takes for Solis to recover from his injury. Then he has to lose the extra pounds (probably a lot) he put on in the time he couldn't train. Then he has to fight a tune-up to shed off the ring rust. And if there's a rematch after that, I don't expect Solis to be able to stay on his feet more than 4 rounds, now Vitali knows he can hurt him. All in all.. A big but(t)!
How people draw that Solis doing "ok" in the 1st round is beyond me. He didn't really much to prove he was going to win the fight. A re-match barring Solis beating 2 or 3 legit guys to earn another chance is pointless at this point. VK has only a few fights left in his career.. rather see him fight Adamek, Haye, or Boystov in those fights than a rematch with Solis.
Solis BARELY earned that shot to begin with. If he was genuinely injured in the bout he should beat the WBC # 1 and get the rematch. But I highly doubt he'll go that route, and like most everyone else in the division is going to simply patiently await the WBA to pull the belt off the table vs Wlad so he can fight in a tournament for the vacant title.
This was a cash out fight for Solis, it was just bad luck(or good depending how you look at it) that he got injured and avoided the prolonged beating that most Vitali opponents get. Solis won't have the desire or dedication to overcome this injury and get back to a legit title shot again. "Former Olympic Gold Medalist and former world title challenger" will be his crowning achievements.
Spot on about the beating he would receive from EITHER brother, but Solis has excellent skills, and a decent chin thus far, and IF, and that's a HUGE IF he gets in fighting shape, say around 225-235, he could definitely put up some good battles in the division and earn millions more.

Yes, Solis has some skill and we'd all like to see him work his way back into contention. No, he doesn't deserve to remain first in line, because he lost already.
He was dropped by a punch and legitimately beaten by a PUNCH in the FIRST round.. No need to waste another 4 to 6 months, or longer, waiting to see SOlis get ready, only to see Vitali take him out, again. Vitali has too few fights left waste one on someone he dropped in the first round. Next.............
The only way he gets a rematch is by working his way into mandatory spot again. He will be out with the injury for the most part of the year. Then he will need a couple of tune up fights and then eliminator. That's 2 years at least. Vitali will most likely be retired by then.
