I think Khan is probably a big enough draw to sell out the Bolton wanderers Reebok stadium in his hometown, Its got a capacity of 28000 which is more than MEN not only that Khan should try to emulate Pacquaio by fighting in sold out stadiums and since Bolton is 10 miles away from Manchester its best he fights at Reebok stadium. Also I think Khan is a Bolton wanderers fan and always wanted to fight there anyway. Ofcourse big difference between Pacquaio fighting in Dallas stadium and Khan fighting at the Reebok stadium given the weather, Do you think this is a good idea?
Last time there was a stadium fight that I can remember it was Mitchell -V- Katsidis and it was promoted as West Ham this and west ham that, The people present werent even boxing fans but football fans. Im simply asking if Khan can fill that stadium out for a fight like against McCloskey.
If he brings Marquez to the UK, then yes, otherwise no. He doesn't shift ticks very well. If he fought Peterson on April 16th, he would have got 15K at best. The McCloskey fight has sold about 17K so far, and 8,000 or so of them will be Irish. If he comes back and beats Prescott, the British public will take to him a lot more, because that's what the average pub man brings up when talking about Amir.
Yes exactly, It would be ideal for Khan to fight Prescott in Reebok stadium because the average tom dick and harry who knows nothing about the fight will buy into the "this time its personal" , "vendetta" nonsense. That being said I do see Khan fighting at the Reebok down the stretch but I think they should atleast start floating the idea now, MEN has Hatton stench to it, Reebok who are also Khan sponsors and fighting in sold out stadiums like Pacquaio will help Khan become a better star internationally and domestically in the UK. Khan though is part promoted by Hatton and Goldenboy in the UK and neither of them have the Top Rank shrewdness to fight in Stadiums, Frank Warren tried it with west ham with Mitchell and it backfired badly.
Colins a good 'un. He just has these weird, whimsical "what if" thoughts on boxing that we all have but instead of just dismissing them he decides to start threads about them!!
