My top 6 Jack Dempsey Tom Sharkey Terry McGovern Mysterious Billy Smith Ad Wolgast Ace Hudkins All were noted for their all-consuming ferocity
real mentions: Rocky Graziano, Tom Sharkey, pre-Hollywood Jack Dempsey, Roberto Duran, early Tyson and as the poster noted, Nigel Benn.
Nigel was without a doubt "VICIOUS". Thw mcClellan fight was crazy. I would say I would put it in my top 10 of all time great fights but I wasn't ever sure if the headbutt was the reason for the aftermath or the reason why McClellan lost. A lesser man would have stayed out of the ring in first round. Benn was a monster.
This ***** cat? Seriously, you could not have paid me enough money to get in the ring with him... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGz3gXGLxvk[/ame]
D, I saw the young savage Rocky Graziano when he was a 4 round fighter. His bouts then were like attending a street brawl. So vicious, and violent was the rockem.sockem Graziano. I saw him and a "second cousin ".Frankie Terry fight each other in 1945. They kicked each other , bit each other, and knocked the referee down, alongst with them to the canvass. We in the audience went crazy. That was young Graziano, coming up. Rocky's fights then didn't need a referee, he needed a warden to keep order. He always claimed he was the greatest "street fighter", and I tend to believe him... P.s. Graziano and the equally tough Ace Hudkins,of the 1920s,would have initiated a "riot",were they to have fought...Cheers D.
:good Great S. I would add Stanley Ketchel,a ferocious do or die killer in the ring. By ALL who saw the young Michigan Assassin fight in the West...:good
