I have a friend who's certain a prime G Man would have at least put Hagler on the mat, if not beaten him. As Hagler had one of the best chins in boxing history, I tend to disagree. How would you see this fight going if it were possible?
Different classes of fighter entirely. Hagler would probably opt to box and counter G-Man at the outset, but eventually he'd probably start to break him down on the inside. Late stoppage.
Young Hagler or even the older Hagler that beat Hearns and should of at least gotten a draw with Leonard is too much in respect to McClellan. Hagler was literally a machine and had a good ring IQ too. He had a hell of a southpaw jab on the outside and if that didn't work prepare to get physical with one of the most physical fighters of all time. Unless McClellan decided to box, he ain't lasting the distance. Hagler TKO.
Bad night for Gerald....his punches would just bounce off. We saw what happened at 168 v Benn when his punches bounced off, he folded in the later stages. No-one ever KO'd Hagler or even hurt him so this would go the same way only probably quicker. Hagler KO6.
That makes me think of Howard Cosell sporadically bursting out "Haguhluh was hurt there!" during the second Antuofermo fight. I laughed every time Howard said it.
Hagler easily has the chin to make it past the 5th round against McClellan, and after that it will be all Marvin. Doubt Gerald would make it to the end of the fight if it's over 12, and highly doubt it when it's over 15 rounds.
