Strong argument. Winstone was no Junior Jones or Amir Khan, so you may have a point.

    A) I'd most definitely favor him. In fact I don't think anyone too well versed on both men should think otherwise. Ramos was the silky smooth boxer-puncher to Morales's stiff, rigged variation. Not to mention he was a physical monster at Featherweight.

    B) At Featherweight, yes. I think Winstone has the style to box rings around Pacquiao, although I'm sure not many will agree with that one. Pac's straight line attack wouldn't work well against a master of footwork and angles like Winstone. It'd be somewhat similar to Pac's fight with Sasakul in that sense, minus the knockout, of course.

If ezzard doesn't look good on film who does?

People who deny Fitzsimmons' greatness and think that a genuine three division champion with his talent wouldn't be competitive or dominant today at some weight are silly. The fact is that any multi weight champion is going to be good no matter what era you put them in based on sheer talent.

I don't get the BENN MCCLELLAN EUBANK fellatio, they just seem like well trained solid fighters to me? I guess it's a result of not being around/a fan of boxing for those fights?

I assumed this would be contested at 126lbs...where MAB was clearly a more mature and better overall fighter than he had been at 122lbs.

Oh, we're pitting Winstone against a shot MAB? In that case, he'd probably win. No arguments.

"Rocky Marciano beats all the 90's Hw's", lol. I think if someone says he beats Oliver McCall it would be reaching.

"Pacman, has more skills and a better chin than Floyd", lol.

Antonio Tarver could beat a Prime Roy Jones Jr.

There was any good black Hw's to fight in Jack dempsey day, lol.

Butterbean was a good fighter that belongs in the hall of fame.

Boxing is not the toughest sport.

I actually agree with SS on Ezzard for the most part. At his very best he looks excellent, but more often than not dreadfully boring. Even some of the fights people so often recommend for the best viewing of Charles I can scarcely even get through it because of all the ugly clinch-fighting. That said, against Louis, Marshall, and to a lesser extent Maxim he shows his stuff.

I disagree on Burley, though, thought he looked great.

Having watched Howard Winstone's two fights with Saldivar, I'm comfortable in predicting a knockout for the Filipino. It could even come early. Pacquiao can land his patented straight left with regularity, just as Saldivar did. Not terribly impressed with Winstone. Seemed slow of hand and foot, too slow for someone like Manny anyhow.

:lol:You see the case for discrediting those performances (obviously, as they were purposefully useless comparisons) but believe your Don Johnson analogy was sound?

That's the stupidest thing I think I've ever heard. I think we're done here until you study up on Winstone and watch a good few more of his fights.

I liked Burley-Smith too although I really wish there was film out there of one of his more aggressive fights.

It's like Arcel says with Ezzard... He's like a derby horse, sometimes he was there to play for keeps and other times he just wasn't fighting to the best of his potential. Almost reminds me of another Arcel fighter, actually....

I was obviously only half serious, but Don Johnson? Who? Would he beat MAB and batter Erik as well? Losing to a fighter who ended his career with a 50-30 record isn't good form, and more contemporary fighters like MAB, Morales, etc. would be put to the sword losing to that calibre of opponent. Jones was actually a world level operator in '97, and the Khan loss happened in the twilight of Marco's career.

You should read all 13 pages.

Still, Winstone does look relatively slow. I see nothing to suggest he'd be able to outbox a dynamo like Manny Pacquiao.

You can start here, Addie. Winstone at his best. Point out to me one flaw, just one (that doesn't include something like "He almost got hit with a punch right there!").

Hector Camacho was the greatest combination puncher ever!
Michael Nunn has a better resume than Roy Jones!
Floyd Patterson is the Fastest Heavyweight of all time!
