By the time they both end their careers who do you feel will have the better resume or legacy? Both are olympic gold medalists ofcourse at this stage Andre Ward is ahead because he turned professional 4 odd years before DeGale. I can see mabe a year or two down the line a fight between Ward and DeGale. It would be a good fight to watch, I just think Ward will have gained too much experience fighting the very best of the division but DeGale might be hungrier and fresher.
Lets not get carried away with De Gale he beats a shite Paul Smith and now everyone thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread, Ward imho willl have a better career.
No offence to the TS but given both men's current standing it's not a question worth asking. Ward beat Kessler, Ward is WBA champ, Ward is leading man at 168 (to many, not me). DeGale could get flattened by Groves next time off and fade off into being a reality tv star, where most muppets are. DeGale planets away from Ward. But I do think Warren will be monitoring the Stieglitz - Gevor fight very closely.
There is nothing special about degale at all. But ward... he's such a mature, rounded fighter you can't fail to be impressed. Ward would knock James out.
absoloute pure example of bull**** here. Go back in time to when Ward had the same number of fights. He was nothing special. hell, after like 18 fights everyone thought he was making up numbers in the super 6 how short term peoples memories are after beating cyclops kessler and a couple of bums like bika and green This Ward hype is getting out of hand, he's as untested as you like
Its difficult to go further than the level Andre Ward is at the moment, a lot of people think he is the best fighter in the division.
How do you know? Bet you hadn't watched a single one of his fights by then or even knew who he was. Not saying I did either but you can't justify your opinion about degale by making stuff up about Ward
Even though I think, along with Gavin, De Gale is Britains best prospect, this hype he is getting is a joke. Let's just put him P4P #1 in the rankings and get it over with.
Another ******ed post from Earl-Hickey. Shocker. Im not a particularly big fan of Ward, but he clearly has a much more rounded skill-set than Degale. His performances against solid opposition in the last two years are very impressive solid, dominating wins over decent gatekeepers like Miranda and Bika, plus an excellent performance over Kessler. Green looked like hed just turned up to spar, so I dont give too much credit for that, especially when Johnson knocked him on his ass right after. Ward had some shaky moments early in his career, but he was learning against decent opposition. It speaks volumes that Goosen and Wards team were happy to put him in against Kessler, Taylor (at the time) and Abraham so early in his career. I cant imagine Warren taking that risk with Degale. Theres a reason why: hed get beaten. That doesnt mean he cant go on to do something good, but I cant remember the last time people made such a fuss over a fighter for beating someone as average as Paul Smith.
He is not on the level of Ward nevermind Dirrell. He has a long way to go beating groves is nothing major.
Whens the last time a 10 fight prospect had two wins like Groves and Smith man? not saying these are ATG wins, but they are damn good wins for a young kid like Degale
