A bit harsh and uninformed lol. He beat Castro who was a puncher at 154+(repeating, 154 but really established himself at MW) and though Curry was faded, he still established himself at 154. Norris also beat Jacquot who upset Curry in '89 when Curry was.... well ... again not a WW as he was at 154 with a WBC belt. Carl Daniels won a vacant WBA 154 belt after losing to Norris. Get my point yet? lol
They know all these things but choose to ignore them cause they have such a dislike for Terrible Terry. What makes me laugh is that the only real undersized fighter he fought was Meldrick Taylor and he did fight him at a catch weight of 151.5 but came to the weigh in at 149 pounds with some clothes and jewelery on so he probably weight just a bit over 147 at the weigh in for the Taylor fight. Another thing is that Terry was not a big 154 pound fighter at all, and any fighter that has had a run at 154 and 160 has most likely faced numerous former welterweights but when Terry does he gets criticized, what a bunch of double standard having ***gots that roam the Classic section. But anyhow to add to the world class fighters that were bigger than Terry that Terry beat, you can also add in an undefeated Quincy Taylor who would later go on to win the WBA middleweight title against Julian Jackson and even his 6th round kayo of tough journeyman Steve Little who would beat Michael Nunn, and go to decision with James Toney, Merqui Sosa etc.... Anybody thinking Quartey beats Norris simply doesn't know what they are posting about in regards to Norris.
Wright, Forrest and DLH are not good comparisons. Norris is a top 3 ATG at 154 and was a killer. Stylistically it's a nightmare for Quartey because he would wait for Norris to stop punching and not be pro-active enough. Terry would get on the inside and do real damage and dig vicious short, compact combinations home. Terry Norris was almost impossible to beat if you couldn't hurt him, there is no way Ike is outpointing or outworking Terry Norris by taking his punches on his arms. And i don't think he knocks him out either. Ike Quartey had this flaw where he would lean forward and then raise his head, this made him susceptible to counter left hooks. All his big opponents caught him with this punch. Terry Norris was a brillient, compact, fast hooker. Left and right. Norris would force Ike to come out of his shell and catch him with something big. After that? well, we all know terrible Terry was one of the best finishers of his generation.
Ok all jabs aside, Norris wins this one... Bazooka had an amazing jab, but he was a bit too one dimensional. Norris was quicker and would probably overcome some early anxious moments. However, given Norris non-chin, you can never count out ANYONE he is fighting...
Terry was a great fighter and brillient to watch, but he was a bully who picked on smaller fighters. Calling Whitaker and Chavez out when he had Nunn, McCallum, McCellen and even Hopkins who were all middleweight champs in his time. He purposely kept away from middleweights after his experience with Julian Jackson. JJ was in the same stable and he never asked for a rematch, but he was happy feasting on Meldrick Taylors. Imagine what a victory at middleweight over say a McCallum would've done for him.
